So yeh... needless to say I HAD to tell you guys about this one....
Huntsville Alabama... "Big Spring Jam" We played a show there the other day.. Little did we know that we were gonna be frisked by a power frenzied police officer...
We finish the show... went great! Alabama throws down! we pack up to head home... ahh home, its few and far between so needless to say we were READY!
I jumped in to leave, and everybody was just sitting there stunned the engine was off.. Come to find out Josh had just been yelled at by a police officer threatening to impound our van and take us to jail if we turned it back on and started to move.
The police officer who I will just call "Officer Barbrady" was nowhere to be seen.. so we are sitting there all packed up and ready to start the 14+ hr drive home… 15 minutes or so go by while we awaited "word" that it was ok to back up and head out the gate. Apparently we had turned on a street, to pick up our packed up merch, where no vehicles were supposed to drive during this 100,000 ppl event…but there were no signs and it was a street so yeh we took it.. remember we really wanted to get home!
Just then the "stage manager" comes over and tells us its ok to back up and leave.. we then tell him about "Officer Barbrady" who was having a bad night and said stay put... he then says "Dont worry I took care of it"... so with no sight of the officer and the word from the stage manager that we were ok to leave we proceeded to leave... hahah little did we know!
After turning our 30 something foot rig around we come to the gate to exit the festival... (by the way the exit to freedom, and home was only 30-40 feet from where we were parked waiting..for what seems like forever!)
I then look up and see probably 13 or 14 officers rushing towards us.. blue lights blazing and soo much "brass" (aka big shots) you could start a small army...the officer runs up to the front window and begins to "unload" on Josh... who just happened to be driving.. "….Get out of the car and follow me!" so we are all like here we go.. so we are praying and waiting to hear what the verdict is while the officers are scoping us out and looking over everything ..
I look over my shoulder and Josh is getting screamed at by "Officer Barbrady" who come to find out from all the other officers is a lil on the power trip side.. after running his license and driving record..(which is clean) he tells Josh to turn around and put his hands on the trailer and begins to frisk him down...looking for ak-47's I'm sure...so we continue to pray... Brandon is sayin its harassment and I am just speechless ..Big T and Chuck (our crew) are trying to figure out what to do...
An officer comes over and asks if someone else can drive.. we say "Yes Sir"... "What is the situation?" ..... "Well he is goin to jail and a wrecker is on the way to impound the vehicle"... Our stomachs drop and it looks like home is gonna be a little farther off than we thought .... GREAT!!
The Festival "production manager" ...the stage managers boss... (by the way that 1st guy that said "I took care of it!!") rolled and left us to dry.. comes over and starts pleading with "Officer Barbrady" ..... "you are ready to let these guys go home right?"..... NO! I am ready to take'm to jail and impound the vehicle .." he pleads some more.. you wouldn't do that for me would you?...."I already bought the Festival t-shirt" I wanna take'm to jail"!!!
So here we are... finally off for a few days and the only thing between us is ONE upset officer..We are praying and just asking for mercy and just a little grace .. I mean come on, being a band is always easy right?? People always say "Ohh you guys have it made" haha well we are blessed but its not always easy...
All the sudden with no reason but a miracle.." Officer Barbrady" gives Josh's license back and says get in and follow me.. so he then escorts us out and never said another word!! He just waves us on.. we bounce with a quickness…
Back on the road .. with yet ONE MORE story for the kids!!
Moral of the story... Dont listen to a guy that says he's "got it taken care of"... listen to the guy with "10 MM Glock" on his belt...

Officer Barbrady lol. Police sure abuse their power on numerous occasions. Anybody hear that off duty Deputy who wacked 6 people.

wow.. hah. I know these guys (playing two shows with them in a few weeks), i'll have to bring this up. Sounds like something that would happen to them.
