Roots! Bloody roots!

hmmm
|
| |
I'm actually down for this. Just bring the metul
|
| |
excuse me what?!?
that does sound really nice though, excited for the re-recordings even if this is a weird situation.
|
| |
they're also apparently(?) doing it under the moniker Cavalera instead of Cavalera Conspiracy.
|
| |
Hooooo-leeeee shit
|
| |
hmmm noice
|
| |
maybe they need to do a new recording to retain rights or something but like... when has a classic thrash rerecording ever gone over well? testament, exodus, anthrax have all done it to little critical success
|
| |
Listening is believing that this is a good idea, and that means allowing Rizk to bestow these releases the livelier/clearer/rawer sound of the 21st century, besides Cavalera bros rising up to the occasion.
|
| |
Very interested to hear how this turns out. Big fan of these original recordings but if this works out it will be really cool.
|
| |
Unsure where to set my expectations for this but I really hope it turns out awesome. Just got done jamming Visions to celebrate the occasion
|
| |
I’m up for this. The originals were bit raw
|
| |
i'm not sure about it.
since i watch Igor's "Beneath The Drums", i can imagine how the drums sounds like.
not very pessimistic to this project, but looking forward about this.
|
| |
honestly I really enjoy the originals
|
| |
Interesting
|
| |
last soulfly album kicked ass, Max still has it vocally for sure. Highly recommend that album, Totem, maybe their best album imo
|
| |
Agreed Pika on the originals. Need to check the last Soulfly. Haven't heard anything remotely new from them
|
| |
Tell me you're washed out without saying that you're washed out...
|
| |
wash out your ears fam
|
| |
I will give this an apprehensive shot but it might wind up being fuckin sweet
|
| |
This is the most Cavalera thing I've heard in a while.
|
| |
Damn, I actually enjoy how raw and unpolished the originals sound but I'll definitely have to check it out!
|
| |
This seems interesting, until you remember a large part of those two albums' charm was that they were unpolished-as-fuck, no-budget passion projects from a bunch of teenagers who could barely play their instruments but still went ahead with their dream anyway. The songs are almost certainly not strong enough to withstand a cynical, squeaky-clean 21st-century spit-and-polish.
I will reserve judgement, though. It could still be good.
|
| |
modern metal and rock production is trash
everything min maxed into a homogeneous boring sound you hear ubiquitously
|
| |
the latest Cavalera Conspiracy and Soulfly albums haven't sounded horrible so I'm hopeful it'll at least sound decent.
|
| |
Yesterday, I was reading that nowadays Max uses four chords in his guitars, and the reason is that he doesn't play solos.
http://blabbermouth.net/news/max-cavalera-why-most-of-my-guitars-have-only-four-strings
Apart from the fact that he is not getting any younger, I wonder if he's gonna re-record with four-chord guitars...

Could be interesting. I doubt they'll be straight copy-paste recreations of the originals and will have some changes where the songs fell flat/the lead guitarist has ideas on what to change (I really hope it's Jairo) and Max might rewrite the lyrics to actually be in functional English. Really does need Jairo involved to complete the Morbid Visions lineup (as we know that Paulo didn't play on the first 4 Sepultura albums). He's got his own old school death-thrash group called The Troops of Doom that always include a re-recorded early Sep track on their releases too (here's their version of Bestial Devastation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_0jgVuKOZ5w)
|
| |
I will be all over this if Jairo is involved
|
| |
@DatsNotDaMetulz
Paulo? Don't you mean Andreas? Also, that is incorrect, Andreas joined ahead of them recording Schizophrenia, so really, he didn't play on Sep's first two records (counting the EP), not the first four. He was definitely in place for Beneath the Remains which is their third release.
Also:
- Don't forget to actually tune your guitars to each other this time, boys.
- Hey Igor, make sure you use your feet on 'Antichrist' this time around too, hmm?
- Lyric overhaul would be nice, even though that is one of the most charming aspects of the original album.
|
| |
Paulo was credited on the early albums but didn't actually play on them, it would've been Max, Jairo or Andreas
|
| |
Yeah, I just saw that on Wikipedia. I was today years old when I learned that fact. I even read an in-depth biography article on Sepultura BY A BRAZILIAN MAGAZINE and they didn't mention that.
|
| |
"You guys are not tired, are you?
(No!)
So, we tried to wake you up, playing something really old and really fast
It used to be called "Antichrist"
We changed the lyrics, we have some fucking problems with the police
Now it's called "Anticop - Fuck the Police"
|
| |
they would have insane shows back in the day, racists showing up, violent people, people getting stabbed and killed during shows, cops harassing them and being authoritarian, crazy time
|

ReturnToRock spittin' facts right now
