Firmly in the "wow this is sick, but probably won't listen to it much cause I'm a pleb" category.

This project is dumb. Maybe the non orchestral versions of the songs will be decent

This band churns out so much music I swear it is impossible to get attached to any of it

They’ve been on a weird downward trajectory since Let Pain Be Your Guide, tbh. Don’t mind them honing in on the black metal side of their sound but they kind of did it in the most generic, uninspired way imo. They used to be more dynamic and interesting to listen to. Hopefully this music is mostly just for the film and the album will be dominated by real riffs. The film score almost gives me obscure Burzum vibes. Not bad, I just hope it’s not 15 fucking mins of the album sounding like this.

The album appears to be the film soundtrack the same songs not attached to the film, probably with real instruments. This is just based on me watching the film and looking at that tracklist

It's an age restricted video which will result in much less views than otherwise.

They could've censored the video but it wasn't in line with their vision. I respect the bands unwillingness to compromise.

I don’t see what the appeal is for this kind of music.

Have not listened to this band since their second album. Hope they are still decent.

Not crazy about the track, they've been in a bad direction since christfucker which completely threw songwriting to the wind and just gave riffs without direction

Yeah, their lack of commitment to developing musical ideas is a more apt criticism than calling it straight up generic after listening to their stuff again. Riff salad. It's sad because their songwriting really fucking worked early on.

I appreciate the big swing for the fence stylistically and I can see how the music can translate into guitars pretty well

@million

I actually completely disagree. We’ll see how good this new record is but We Are Always Alone is easily my favorite record of theirs, and I think Christfucker is better than Let Pain Be Your Guide honestly.

Good take. I’m very excited to hear this in full, and really dug the short film they made for it. Preordered the vinyl and a shirt.

Idk, they haven't done a song as interesting as Your War or Daymare since imo. There was a lot of skramz influenced melodicism that added to their style that I think they almost purposefully phased out of their songwriting afterwards because they wanted to be heavier? Best thing on We Are Always Alone is probably Masochistic Oath (which feels like the song just starts in the middle of itself to me) or the melodic part of My Immolation. Christfucker really felt undercooked. The production change felt a bit jarring, it doesn't really fit their modern songwriting style imo, and the instrumentals overall were all less creative/involved. Plus it feels like the least dynamic album of them all.
