Bro most people are not audiophiles. Most people don't know the difference between low quality mp3 and 32 bit 48khz WAV. Most people aren't gonna be able to nitpick about the differences between a Time II that's mixed like Time I was and one that's mixed in a mega studio with extra amount of time to reamp guitars in the middle of the night or whatever. (For the record I would much rather hear you release an album in the style of this 2 minute track than Time II) I know you feel this way but I would be SHOCKED if most people here would prefer listening to, utterly garbage by comparison to a studio recording, LIVE audio of Way of the Fire and Storm (we all know it's Storm you're not fooling anyone) than hearing than hearing those songs with a mix that is exactly like how Time I was mixed. (In fairness I know you played WOTF before the decision to split the double album but my point stands with Storm) Blows my mind that given how obsessive compulsive you are with making music "absolutely perfect sonically according to the vision" that you would have let people hear it THAT way instead of a mix that's "good enough"
I have resolved to never let myself be as much of a perfectionist as you so I can actually MAYBE put music out sometimes lol
|
| |
@ryus My exact thoughts^^
There are so many people in the "supported by" section I can't even
|
| |
bass boosted, Jari sucker, fuck you
|
| |
Jari is a strange cat.
|
| |
what a bizarre way to release something
|
| |
lol frozen
|
| |
@frozen sorry but wrong, everyone knows the most important part of music is how many tracks you used in pro tools.
that and inspiration saunas.
|
| |
At least it's an actual release and not a cover in SUPER LOW tuning or whatever else Jari will use as a distraction to cover up his crippling perfectionism.
|
| |
Still amazed at how many wintersun fans will enable this behaviour.
|
| |
warning - there won't be another update for 3 years
|
| |
oh my god I looked at the Facebook page it’s beyond parody.
“Tracklist:
1. Warning
2. Warning Dynamic *
3. Warning Orchestral *
4. Warning Drums (Isolated Track)
5. Warning Bass (Isolated Track)
6. Warning Rhythm Guitars (Isolated Track)
7. Warning Orchestration (Isolated Track)”
pure comedy.
|
| |
This is some clown shit, unbelievable.
|
| |
ya know, for when you just want to listen to an isolated programmed bass track
|
| |
Speaking of which, I've never heard Jason's And Justice for All track
|
| |
Does jari need a new addition to his sauna? What a joke
|
| |
Has Jari ever been tested for CTE? Did he used to be a fighter?
|
| |
This would be something any other metal guitarist would play while they're taking a shit. Jari is making people pay for his shitting music.
|
| |
devin townsend-ass goofy track
|
| |
Warning (slowed + reverb)
|
| |
Lezz be honest the song was okayish
|
| |
oh no
|
| |
In 5 years since the last release half the band left for Nightwish and we got a B-Side Devin Townsend riff.
|
| |
People actually give this man money
|
| |
lmao sixdegrees
|
| |
Favorite track: Warning Bass
|
| |
griftersun
wintersoy
washed up band that hasnt made anything good in 20 years.
|
| |
I feel like this dude probably really had some grand plans/aspirations and set up the donation campaign with good intentions. He probably never imagined he would get so much money and then just totally lost it when he received a whole ass half mil and actually isn't really mature enough to handle everything he aspired to do
|
| |
You could be correct honestly. Idk how I'd react to that situation. I know I wouldn't be able to handle living with not coming through on some crowd funding shit for people who are fans though so I probably would never do it in the first place. That shit would eat away at me and it'd be all I could think about until I got it done. I've been burnt on a few movies I crowd funded and it sucks. There was one where I donated enough that I got a producer credit on IMDb and all of that and the guy got brain cancer and died before it got completed. That one was sad and I've always hoped one of the other people working on the film would pick it up and complete his vision because it was an awesome concept. The other two that went sideways were just assholes who ran off with their fans money and never gave any updates or acknowledged it at all which sucked big time considering I was a huge fan/supporter of them both.
|
| |
Same here. I would never ask for money like that because I'd be afraid I wouldn't live up to expectations lol
|
| |
How fantastic Wintersun could have been if Jari wasn't kookoo as fuck. Dude has been off the rails for years, eternal fucking shame.
|
| |
wintersun sucked until he did this
|
| |
kekko
|
| |
warning (chopped and screwed)
|
| |
one of these days Jari is going to realize that you don't need to turn the midrange on the guitar all the way down
|
| |
So this guy is seemingly a perfectionist and so massively revered and he puts out a compressed chug riff for two minutes and the world is supposed to say thank you? I'm a bedroom musician and I could pump something like this out on the daily.
|
| |
This is so bad lmao
|
| |
Hilarious, how this supposed "perfectionist" does exactly what most consider to be everything bad about metal production in 2023.
|
| |

|
| |
Christ, wtf happened to this band
|
| |
Someone wanted a sauna or something and that killed the band
|
| |
Nothing unusual, Jari Maenpaa haven't riffed since 2004 and has been busy trying to kick his own ass.
|
| |
to be real you really need a sauna to think hard and come up with creative ways to suck
|
| |
"Nothing unusual, Jari Maenpaa haven't riffed since 2004 and has been busy trying to kick his own ass."
I'm aware of the downfall (my writeup of The Forest Seasons is the flagged review), but I swear... when it seems like Wintersun can't get any worse, they somehow keep managing to find a way
|
| |
My biggest complain with wintersun is post self-titled, nothing sounds genuine and it's masked with over production and artificial grandiosity. Which I believe is what's drowning this band.
|
| |
This was pitiful. It's wild that someone could be so self entitled, and deluded that they think they deserve money for a limited release of what is essentially something you'd add to some deluxe version of an album in the "demos" section. It's crazier that someone would actually pay for that shit. It's a constant reminder, he wouldn't do it if there wasn't some delusional audience for it.
It's quite funny that this guy idolizes Devin Townsend in some manner.
There was an AMA question put to Devy years ago about Wintersun.
Q: "Secondly, in regards to that first question. Jari of the band Wintersun once mentioned that he planned to reach out to you for help with mixing and mastering his Wintersun albums, as they were too complex for him. Given the current state of that band, is that still an option or did he just never reach out to you?"
Devin: "I dont really know him...I dont have ideal situations, nor do I seek them out. I have a simple rig and use engineers in studios that I can laugh with. I do lots of submixing over multiple sessions and did that regardless of if I had protools, adat, or a 4 track machine. Force of will rather than perfection, but really...my hearing is pretty messed up too. I cant imagine that soon people will do what I do better than I ever could =) "
Quite funny honestly, that he wanted to ask Devin, given he needed this "super studio with endless resources".
