Kalmah are Haunted by Guilt

Finnish melodic death metallers and part-time swamp explorers Kalmah have released the first single, 'Haunted by Guilt', from their upcoming album due out in late spring via Ranka Kustannus. You can stream it below.

Band comments on the song: 'Haunted by Guilt’ was the very first song written for the upcoming album. The opening riff needed a long time to shape out, but immediately after the twisted melody took physical form, the perfect match was ready. All in all, the song has some new vibe for Kalmah, yet the typical sound of pure swamp metal is of course strongly present. And that, my friends, means no digital-over-polished-shit but real amps and raw playing. Interpretation of the message of the song is left for the listeners to decide. We hope you'll enjoy.”

I mean the lead on this track is far better than any riff on Anno 1696

Feel like the new Insomnium record relies more on atmospherics than straight up riffs but you're not wrong

Atmosphere is better when generated by good riffs and coupled with quality songwriting/varied structure. Melodic death metal without riffs is like a car without wheels - yeah you can sit in there and rev the engine but you are going nowhere and just making a lot of noise.

New song is definitely better than the first single but I feel like it didnt really go anywhere. Just kinda stuck with the same idea the whole song
