what the hell was that
| |
This song is either going to blow them up or make people hate them. Definitely has a made for tiktok sound.
Aside from the alphabet part becoming really annoying this style of vocal fits the music.
Without the vocals this would be a pretty standard track for them.
Definitely keen to hear what Chino does with his song.
| |
you can always depend on polyphia to be unbelievably tacky
| |
Polyphia with Chino?! Hype!
| |
We all knew they were capable of this bullshit.... so here it is
| |
They’ve gone too far this time
| |
Refreshing to hear a prog band actually trying to do something progressive.
| |
This was good
some minor annoying parts, but I really like the energy
| |
This song is 50:50 catchy/unbearable.
| |
Ugh
| |
Nope.
| |
Catchy but the ABC part is cringe
| |
Energy is great. Those vocals were a choice, I wish they weren't there but they are.
Actually, fuck it, why not go full on hypershredpopcore
| |
catchy, fun, original, not my cup of tea but they are fearless, I like that
| |
not gonna lie, i think this is extremely catchy and have been listening to it a lot.
| |
I don't hate this in theory, but god damn is the execution tacky and grating. At least I can distinguish it from other Polyphia songs...
| |
The band is talented, insanely talented. But I can’t stand them. I know they’re going to blow up with this new album though.
| |
So they're basically Dance Gavin Dance now?
| |
i'm going to be bumping this so hard with the windows up
| |
theyre actually not insanely talented.
its like that one kid everyone knew in high school who pontificated. its a low level social spell to make you think theyre the shit.
what theyre playing isn't coming from talent so much as really fast (AWFUL TONE mind you) plinky tick tack bullshit. if you spent 15 years and this was the style you came up with, i would say it was a waste of time. there's literally no soul, its just artifice and everyones like oMG HAHA GUITAR GODZ
the inspire EP fucks though.
| |
also, rofl @ their drummer existing. every track for the past 5 years has been awful fucking samples and he pretends he be sweating bullets pushing his limits lol
| |
“I don't hate this in theory, but god damn is the execution tacky and grating.”
Perfect way to describe it
| |
Spot on about the drummer, just there for show. The computer digitized drums doing all the work
| |
Ew.
| |
"also, rofl @ their drummer existing. every track for the past 5 years has been awful fucking samples and he pretends he be sweating bullets pushing his limits lol"
watch this "drummer's" playthroughs and find a nice fat dirty crow to eat, the drummer is a fucking monster
| |
He's an awesome drummer. Someone in the band's just a sucker for lifeless drum samples. I can only imagine it cringes him to the core but idk, maybe he likes it
| |
Normally, I almost immediately jump on the Polyphia hate train because I think that they're basically just an influencer version of CHON - but I didn't really hate this song as much as I thought I was going to. Maybe it was the combination of the video, which gave me a few laughs, but there is some pretty beautiful guitar licks even by Polyphia standards here. Just a bit of a shame the mix doesn't consider the main attraction of this band by keeping them low. I actually thought the "ABC" part was pretty fun in a cheesy way.
I think the biggest selling point of this band to me is the fact that they truly do not give a flying fuck. They started off by appealing to prog-wank nerds and are now branching out in literally any direction they see something fun in. Something that CHON absolutely failed at on Homey with their feat. vox tracks aside from "Nay-hoo", and even then that song isn't all that. I'll listen to the album.
| |
Also agreed @Calc, anyone who thinks the drummer doesn't do anything hasn't seen this band live.
| |
Song was cool. Probs not going to listen again but I dig em a lil bit and it's cool theyre starting to work with singers (dunno if they did before but I always kinda thought it'd be nice)
| |
"also, rofl @ their drummer existing. every track for the past 5 years has been awful fucking samples and he pretends he be sweating bullets pushing his limits lol"
Dumb take
| |
the riff was so-CHON-ish
| |
Drummer rips yes, but all the good musicians in the world doesn’t make the band good, look at dream theater
| |
poopoo band
| |
Oh this is gonna piss off the incels im so excited
| |
This was a lotta fun. Maybe it's gimmicky but I hope collabs like this become more common.
| |
supremely uninteresting band
| |
I'm definitely intrigued with what the Chino song will sound like
| |
Why? You already know what it’s gonna sound like. Polyphia noodling and Chino crooning.
Hopefully it bangs
| |
Just added this Sophia Black to the database. She has one EP that she released back in 2015.
| |
This is pretty fun. Some bits were a bit annoying, but overall the vocals suit their style nicely.
| |
I must be too old for this band, I couldn't care even if my life depended on it.
| |
lmao@ saying the drummer sucks. Worst take of the year right here.
| |
this is their best song
| |
No one said the drummer sucks. He’s underutilized and replaced with electronic drum samples etc.
| |
Interesting sound but I think I'd probably prefer it without vocals.
| |
i mean they gonna blow up with this shit so good on em, this shit is right up my daughters alley
| |
Yeah this is my favorite song that I've heard from them by a good margin. I'm excited for the album and to hear the other vocal performances. Hopefully they can pull of doing their prog shit w/ vocals better than Scale the Summit did on their last album.
| |
All prog core bands eventually wank themselves to death
| |
Lmao. Funny and also kinda true
| |
yuck
| |
how can people hate this song? it's fun as hell
| |
polyphia finally accepting that they are actually a 2015 future bass cover band
| |
i actually quite liked this : )
| |
nope 2
| |
So goofy I can't help but dig the instrumentation, though Sophia's Japanese bit is still odd even after playing this on loop repeatedly.
| |
this song rules. it's like math rock ariana grande
| |
I like this way more than their usual stuff. The vocal writing on this is awesome.
| |
a lot of people hate this mostly due to polyp's vibe/aesthetic/neck tats i think
| |
And the obnoxious vocals
| |
it's progjent kero kero chill lol
| |
#necktats
| |
I mean that kind of mirrors the virtuoso guitar hero attitude of the 80’s… I’m sure people will rise to the challenge. YouTube is already full of prodigies like Tim.
| |
Jackson 5 ABC > This > ABCDEFU
| |
Abc Song by Wheels on the bus >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> [2]
| |
'prodigies like tim'
bruh, he aint no prodigy lmao. if you listen to what his 'style' is, its very technical but the notes dont even sound good. its all form, no substance.
also, playing a fancy ibanez with garbage tone does not a prodigy make lmao
| |
he is absolutely a prodigy. it's okay to not like something without trying to (poorly) dismantle it.
| |
“progressive rockers”
| |
fair enough, im just being difficult lol.
| |
double post
| |
Tim is prodigious in his technical ability on guitar but absolutely not for his songwriting ability.
| |
Nice edit 😆
| |
yeah and tim is no exception
| |
New Levels was awesome though
