Emo and alternative rock forefathers Sunny Day Real Estate have reunited for a third time in their history, in conjunction with the unveiling of Riot Fest's 2022 lineup. No official word of a full length tour yet despite murmurs of one throughout the year.

How it Feels to Be… is a masterpiece and one of the best Emo/Rock albums ever. I hope they do more than just a couple shows.

is there some big plot nowadays behind getting old dead bands to reunite?

Feather

yeah, but the plot is nothing new: Band loses their hype over time and dies, band announces a re-union which brings nostalgic hype back, their demographic is now older and has the $$$ to spend too, band makes money and gets a larger audience again.

somewhat related, recent "pop-punk resurgnce" unfortunately in the form of MGK and Olivia made things like When We Were Young fest more plausible because it was 'cool' again to like pop-punk.
