Band rules, stoked to check this out.

big hype
|
| |
god just end me this is so beautiful
*weeps at a sunset*
I like that the songs are shorter here. will probably give the album a different feel than the rest.
|
| |
I dug this but also annoyed they dropped the closer
|

Feels like a weirdly condensed version of like a 12 minute song that should exist. Particularly that part around the middle where it goes pretty aggressive and ends on a middling solo just doesn't make much sense in the composition to me. The climax would probably be really impactful if the buildup to it was stronger. Good parts, but pretty meh by their standards.

I started listening to this band shortly after that Null album got some buzz on here last spring. I love the folky atmospheric black metal with heavy emphasis on the folk part lol...This song is just more of what I love about it, but I haven't been able to find many other bands that grip me the same way.
I've tried most of the genres heavy hitters (Allagoch, Panopticon, Falls of Rauros, etc.), and kinda like Sojouner and that new Marrasmieli album, but nothing much else seems to scratch the same itch. Any more recs for shit that sounds like this are much appreciated.

Ambush, have you hit Dzö-nga yet? I don't have the audacity to claim we're better than any of those guys, but Saor's our most common reference point.

Ambush not sure if you've checked out Moonsorrow yet, they may seem a bit "cheesy" at first in comparison, but there is a lot of depth to their music and some of the most beautiful stuff in the genre. Verisakeet and Viides Luku are my favorites of theirs but you can't really go wrong with their discog.

very strong track. i like the more nuanced production, kind of a more delicate air to saor's work than the previous walls of sound

SO. FUCKING. STOKED.
What a tune
|
| |
a little boring
|
| |
finally you disagreed with me
was starting to get a little worried
|
| |
I like all Saor’s albums
is this good? (not gonna listen till release)
cheers
|
| |
I'll be very surprised if you don't like this, considering you enjoy their other output
|
| |
reassuring
Will butter myself up in due course

Things I never thought I would read in this lifetime

nah, he likes music, just sometimes the wrong one
|
| |
I want to love this, but just like forgotten paths it sounds like andy wants to speedrun his formula which worked for him up to guardians
|
| |
it's still good, but I've heard these riffs before (from saor even, just listen to tears of a nation) and it's very telling that he can't even create a 6min song that's engaging when his greatest strength was +10min songs
|
| |
Beautiful song.
|
| |
"he can't even create a 6min song that's engaging when his greatest strength was +10min songs"
yeah but we already have a bunch of 10-min songs
|
| |
Really nice. That part 4 minutes onward was a beauty.
|
| |
Mon ae Scotland
|
| |
the problem is that those 10min tracks were great all the way through, and this is pretty forgettable
|
| |
very hyped
|
| |
I like it, will be interesting to see how the shorter track lenghts pan out.
|
| |
lol when everyone's talking about omg short songs! but only one is less than six minutes. gotta love atmosblack.
|
| |
i've heard it before but it's still 1) nice and you know me i love a 2) shorter album nowadays.
|
| |
Normally this dude exclusively does 10-14 minute tracks so obv it's noticeable when all the songs are 6 or 7 minutes long.
|
| |
Loving how succinct this track is to be honest. That lead work is tasty.
|

Takes me to another world (British Isles)
|

Saor is so effin consistent, this will be great.
|
| |
Beyond the Wall is incredible. between that and the title track I'm getting stoked for this one
