Cult of Luna Announce New LP

2021-11-04 by Fernando Alves STAFF | 37 Comments
Cult of Luna have announced their new full-length album, The Long Road North, set for release on February 11th, 2022 on Metal Blade Records. The album marks as a follow-up to this year's The Raging River EP.

"The long road north is a long road home. A direction dictated by a call that penetrates rock and echoes through the forest," states vocalist/guitarist Johannes Persson. "It flows over every lake, accelerated by the wind. When it reaches you, you know it's time. Time to move forward. You don't know where it will lead but you put the trust in it. With eyes raised towards the midnight sun it pulls you closer. The road is long and the end is uncertain."

Pre-orders will begin on December 1st, 2021 at: https://www.metalblade.com/cultofluna

Metal Blade? i thought they created their own label red creek and I even remember their vocalist saying something along the line of being happy with creative freedom?

These guys are on fire. Somewhat surprised this is coming so soon after Dawn/RR, but these guys are not mere mortals so I bet it will be amazing regardless. Keeping those expectations in check is gonna be a bitch.

So I relistened Raging River and I realised that it's probably my least fav CoL release since the debut (yeah, including Verikal II, it's close). Which is funny because it still kicks so much ass and it shows how fucking great their discog is. Anyways, I'm hyped as hell for the new one, I wonder what direction they take here - photos would suggest even more dark with "north swedish mountains" atmosphere. Can't wait.

I'll make Highway the bar as well then considering Salvation is tops and Dawn may have also surpassed it (sometimes I think it already has).
