Faraz Anwar returns with song 2020-04-30 by OmairSh | 11 Comments | Pakistani guitar virtuoso Faraz Anwar, founder and leader of Progressive Metal band Mizraab, and solo artist, has released "Closer To Life" from his upcoming solo album titled Ishq Ki Subah.
Faraz might not be well known here, but he's well known in the Sub-Continent in Rock and Metal circles. It had been a few years since he released music, and now he's announced a solo album, but has yet to announce the date. The album has songs with his vocals on it, however this first single is instrumental, with Faraz playing all the leads and solos.
Not sure if anyone will check, but if anyone does, hope ya enjoy!

Not sure if anyone will check, but I've been a fan for around 15 years now
| | | Thank you for bringing some variety to this website Omair, I really appreciate it.
| | | No worries Cugno, glad you appreciate it! :-). I was out of the loop with Pak music for a while. Getting back into it so I might post more. You might also like this list containing YouTube links to some performances :-)

| | | That was pretty nice
| | | Always great to see Faraz Anwar still putting out music. He's been such a powerhouse for the rock and metal scene in Pakistan. This song's great but I really dig the single Piya from his upcoming album, 'Ishq ki Subah'. Stoked for the album release.
| | | Yeah I don't really like Plini and all that subgenre to which Faraz Anwar also belongs, but I do like the Mekaan Hasan Band quite a bit.
| | | @Steak :-)
@Ranger: Riiiight! I'm happy all of the old guard is working on stuff; Mekaal, Khurram Waqar (Qayaas), Faraz, Asad Ahmed, etc. Piya was good as well, did you hear One Of Them? Sounds like Megadeth and Symphony X in places. Plus I didn't know Faraz could growl!
I want to add news articles for those songs as well, unless you want to share Piya :-). I wish he had actual drums on the album, but hell yeah looking forward to it m/
| | | @Cugno: Ah okay gotcha, you might like his Prog rock/Metal band's music (Mizraab). Their album Maazi Haal Mustaqbil (2004) is actually pretty good. I'm actually thinking of reviewing that as well
Here are a couple of tracks from that album (Love all the songs, but Kuch Hai has this really mysterious vibe that I enjoy so much):
1. Insaan: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D1gcQo2hVTQ
2. Panchi (Live): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xPh4rQMBi9o
3. Kuch Hai: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GaoMc06SOZM
| | | Yep, I definitely like his band more than his solo work, but I like the Mekaan Hasan Band better than both of them.
| | | Yeah I heard 'One of Them' and I think the album's gonna have a lot of variety considering that he said there's a lot of old material he'll put in there. Will be worthwhile I'm sure.
| | | Yeah hoping it'll be diverse. Lots of albums go look forward to man!!
I've been listening to this a lot recently
