Loved his style of country, v funny and witty dude
His last album did sound like him checking out from making music...but I was hoping it wasn't him checking out from life
Yes, sad

awful. only familiar with a few albums but a legendary songwriter no doubt. 1991's The Missing Years was a gamechanger for me.
i hope he's enjoying that 9-mile long cigarette

I am familiar with some of his albums covers, but I will definitely delve into the discography. RIP

A true legend, he had a way of bringing all kinds of emotion to life in his songs. RIP

This is a really hard RIP. Fuck, man.

In all my time hanging around country musicians I've never met a single one who wouldn't give their left leg to be able to write songs as well as Prine could. Hard RIP, dude was incredible at what he did and his legacy is more than enviable.

Absolute legend. I've been jamming him all my life as he was one of my Dad's favorites. I can't decide if Bruised Orange or Angel From Montgomery is the best song ever. Fucking Hard RIP.

VERY new to his music but this shit hurts. An artist with so much personality and emotion in his songs. R.I.P. Best wishes to his family

This one sucks majorly. One of the funniest, sweetest, most unique voices in American music these last 50 years, he was a songwriter's songwriter and was massively respected in the folk and country communities, guys like Johnny Cash and Bob Dylan were big fans. Sad I never got to see him at my hometown fest, the Newport Folk Festival, where he was a regular for decades. Going to be very much missed.
Apparently I only submit news items when incredible musicians die, first Adam Schlesinger now John Prine.

absolutely gutted, he was a genius songwriter
