Italy has reached the peak; the amount of new cases is finally slowing down even though there are still lots of people dying. Spain on the other hand is still working towards its peak.

This can't be dismissed as the "flu we all know" (and tbh the actual flu is nasty enough in itself). This shit spreads like wildfire and viciously attacks the lungs. If you're a senior citizen or already have a certain medical condition and this thing catches you, the outlook is grim. If you're fit, you'll most likely survive this, but you can still end up in a hospital with a terrible infection and leave it with damage to the lungs if you're unlucky.
