what the fuck no
| |
I'm Poppy.
| |
no I am
| |
what was that “Blind” intro?? why?
| |
no you're impoppy. I'm Poppy.
| |
Nahh, I'm good.
| |
Fuck you both, I’m the Real Poppy ™️.
| |
Foiled again!
Masks look better than the dumb Slipknot ones lol. I could really do without the screaming though, it's not very Poppy.
| |
Just fucking kill me now
| |
No point listening to anything else anymore this year
AOTY confirmed
| |
Even I'm a little iffy on this one. Although it's one of the better vocal performances from Butler I've heard in a while.
| |
Gonna laugh my balls off when Poppy puts out a better pop-metal album than Slipknot in 2019.
| |
I... don't know. The cheese is so thick at this point I'm just enjoying the ride and trying not to drown in it.
| |
Wow.
| |
I do think there is a bit too much disconnect between the music and the original webisodes that earned her cult status. I wish more of that off-putting weirdness was incorporated into the music but in a less bombastic way I guess. Either way, it's still pretty amusing.
| |
What even is this?
| |
pure riffs
| |
lol this is about 10x better than the other garbage FEVER has put out, at least this is not taking itself as seriously. I guess Feldmann wasn't involved.
Sounds like BABYMETAL.
| |
That's cause it's a Poppy track, Fever are just faceless hired minions. Poppy is going to become Tobias Forge one day, I swear.
| |
"grammy nominated" wtf
I guess if youre a shit band and you release left leaning politically charged tracks you get a grammy.
| |
how does a rap/metal band get grammy-nominated lmao
| |
it's like they took Otep and smashed it into Babymetal.
"how does a rap/metal band get grammy-nominated lmao"
same way KoRn did; grammys are voted on by old people who aren't actually close to the music and don't care to understand anything not closely related to top hits music, so the rock/metal awards are always a shitshow of "what bands were popular-ish and had radio singles this year".
| |
Ok but KoRn is KoRn, I've never even heard of this Fever band. And calling KoRn rap/metal is a big stretch, they're mainly nu-metal when they're not dub-step.
| |
also how do you compare a butch militant lesbian to fucking Poppy lol
| |
This is silly.
| |
Oh no.
| |
last break down goes ahrddddddd
0 1 0 1 0 1 0 1
| |
What the hell is even that?
| |
prog metal
| |
it smells
| |
I don't think I've ever heard anything so "all-over-the-place" before
also 1:13 lmfao what even
| |
this is the weirdest shit
I fucking love it
| |
"also how do you compare a butch militant lesbian to fucking Poppy lol "
those screams sound like Otep, this music involves a rap rock band, and it sucks. So 1-2-3 it's a good compare. :-)
| |
It's a male doing the screams here but ok
| |
s o u n d s l i k e O t e p t h o
| |
I really don't see it at all vocally, but guitar-wise sure. I'm sure Otep is guilty of the occasional 0 1 0 1 riff.
| |
you're racist
| |
Babymetal did this way before and way better.
Solid 1.
| |
no jason butler telling me how hard it is to be a black guy?
0/0
| |
lol
| |
I'm so sad that Stevis went from the Chariot to this
| |
Aric should stick to NV. This is so bad.
| |
My question is oddly enough less so what the fuck is this and more so, how the hell did Fever get a grammy nomination? Sure Walking In My Shoes was good and Burn It was alright, but I haven't really found any other reason to listen to them.
As for this, I'd say it is one of the better things I've heard Fever do so far, oddly enough. I guess props to them.
| |
its fun, trash but fun
| |
I passionately hate everything about The Fever but this is better than their usual atrocities tbh
| |
I'm so sad that all three went from their awesome bands to this.
| |
Yeah I remember I was so hyped when that band got announced lol. Fake History + Night Verses drumming + The Chariot riffs = the worst band ever?
I'm still confused by them.
| |
I don't understand why Fever is not good. Night Verses, Let Live. and The Chariot were incredible ...
| |
what the actual fuck am I listening to
| |
poppy has literally hever been good wake up nerds
| |
wake up sheeple
| |
yea this band’s lineup makes them being bad all the more infuriating, especially butler being like one of the most talented frontman in posthardcore in like every aspect of the job yet he decides to do this? fuck outta here
| |
Legit question: Does anyone with functioning eyes consider Jason Butler to be a black person? It's like Pete Wentz all over again.
| |
This is all made by a committee of suits, no one directly involved has any say, they're just props.
| |
Costume design department the real MVP here.
| |
Honestly there's some catchy parts in this. I mean it's a burning trainwreck full of feces, but there's some catchy parts in it.
| |
yeah this is kind of a dumpster fire but there's plenty of potential
| |
This is irredeemably awful and anyone thinking otherwise is a complete dunce, Poppy is a social construct... the funny thing is I had no idea before hearing the previous collaboration but could still see through it as ‘novelty’ to the point I (unfortunately) looked her up.
| |
What music isn't socially constructed?
I think this single is fine, not as good as X but it's enjoyable to a point.
| |
I reallllllly hate the chorus on X, this one is marginally more tolerable. Play Destroy is still the closest thing to a tasteful metal track she has.
| |
Play Destroy is excellent and I'll fuckin' fight anybody that says otherwise.
| |
'What music isn't socially constructed?'
This is quite literally forced though, it's just an attempt at being 'edgy'. It's been declared as a social experiment by the artist herself, she said it would be interesting to see how people react to it. How anyone can take this artist seriously is beyond me, everything she does is designed to provoke a reaction and increase her following.
It sounds terrible regardless so whatever.
| |
poppy is great
| |
im actually suprised that sputnik shows this much bad taste when it comes to poppy
| |
Fantano put this in the best songs of the week so I guess it's good now.
| |
i always liked poppy fuck off poppy
| |
I actually enjoy her pop stuff. The metal stuff is kind of ehhhh so far
| |
"This is quite literally forced though, it's just an attempt at being 'edgy'. Congrats, on getting the entire point while also completely fucking missing it. It's a parody of edgy pop stars trying to be relatable or provocative. The entire point is getting a response.
| |
Are you actually 'poppy' then? Only the artist knows the true intentions of their shtick. Either way this is calculated and that was my point, even if I missed half of it, whatever.
I probably wouldn't care as much if the music was actually decent. I'm not familiar with her other work but these two 'metal collabs' are so horrendously terrible and appear to be nothing more than a novelty.
| |
The whole thing is a novelty and a gimmick. That's the point. Everything about the project has been snide commentary on bland pop-stars who have all their music written by boardroom committees and everything down to the clothes and nail-polish they wear is predetermined by data and market research to appeal to the widest audience. That's why she always comically comes off as daft and robotic in every interview. It's all an elaborate, multi-media joke.
| |
And why does this provide anyone entertainment? I don’t get it.
| |
youre just a sadboi
| |
I don't understand why people like country music, but they do. Just one of those opinion things I keep hearing about I guess.
| |
tbh best Poppy is industrial Poppy.
POPPY IS YOUR MOMMY

| |
