it’s obviously not good but i kinda can’t get how people are this mad at it considering both cali and neighborhoods have a few way worse songs (and this addiction being real)

that said this isn’t a good indicator of the new album and is definitely not something i want matt skiba to be a part of but if this’ll pay the bills enough to get another ittc, then fine i guess

also the production is dreadful and kills most potentially redeeming aspects of the song like the vocal line isn’t necesarily bad but it sounds like they’re trying to put matt and mark through like distorted vocal filters to make them sound more raw but considering the more electronic and pop influenced instrumental it really really clashes, with the effects on the title of the song in the chorus definitely being the worst offender

This was kind of alright? Thing is, it has me a bit worried. "Bored to Death" was the first track they released for "California" back in 2016, and the song was not only a solid single - but a good representation for what the rest of the album was going to offer. If this track is supposed to evoke the same idea, then I'm unsure if I'll like their upcoming album.

I actually prefer quite a bit of these over this song: good old days, clever love, dry your eyes, rebel girl. I happened to listen to Dry Your Eyes before reading this comment and was actually really enjoying it. Yeah it's Everything's Magic 2 but fuck it

Man, I don't know if anyone else feels this way, but listening to the direction that John Fieldman has taken his career actually tarnishes listening to his old stuff.

It seems like the dude basically rode the pop punk wave not because he actually gave a shit about the style, but because it was make money. Which blows because early Goldfinger has some of my favorite pop-punk stuff on it.

Rebel Girl is good, The Dream Walker is great and the Chasing Shadows EP is pretty good too. The man has made solid stuff while blink has made absolute horseshit.

if you wanna complain comparing this to stuff in other recent blink related projects instead of looking at toms shitty and honestly even worse new track just listen to last years fucking incredible alkaline trio album that only solidifies that matt is easily the better songwriter between the three of them and only here to pay the bills

Generational Divide is probably the best track they've released in years, really brings back the Dude Ranch / Cheshire Cat feels. They need to just put out a straightforward no-frills skatepunk EP or album and it'd be great.
