Last Crack reunite/to release new album

2019-01-08 by Voivod STAFF | 11 Comments
In what is probably the most unexpected reunion ever, Last Crack have re-emerged, with a new album to be released later this year.

The Madison WI outfit had released two albums of quirky progressive/hard rock in the early '90s, that progressively earned an ever increasing cult following, the magnitude of which led to their reissue from Metal Mind Records in the noughts.

The new record deal was inked with EMP Laber Group, whose head, Thom Hazaert had the following to say:

Growing up in Wisconsin, Last Crack coming out of Madison was such a huge deal. I remember 'Burning Time' coming out, and it was like dynamite. They were really doing something that no one else was doing at the time. All the 'cool' kids loved them. They were always a band that was so ahead of their time, and it's a huge honor to release the follow-up to 'Burning Time', all these years later. Hopefully the world finally caught up.

Watched them a lifetime ago in a venue in Cologne, the singer was stoned as fuck but the show was great

Mind Over Four would be a treat too, saw them on "The Goddess" tour, sadly after their first 3 albums they lost creativity.

^^I have yet to draw myself past the debut Mind Over Four album, because its immense quality acts on me like a supermassive black hole.

You are right though, their last two albums (especially Empty Hands) are nowhere near their debut.

These guys have always reminded me of Savatage in some ways.

The debut is immensely good but I think they have outdone themselves with "The Goddess".
And wtf have either of those bands to do with Savatage???????? lol

Last Crack is the band that sort of reminds me of them in some ways.

Savatage is kind of epic power metal. Last Crack is something completely different.

Maybe what Casavir means is that both bands are progressive, each in its own vein of course.

Well that is true, but then you could also say Dream Theater reminds me of Voivod
