Will's leads in the beginning are so good. I wasn't blown away overall, but I think it's a grower.
| |
Too bad the screams suck ass.
| |
"Taking Back Sunday – ‘Bullet With Butterfly Wings’ [The Smashing Pumpkins]"
Take me now.
| |
This sounds like a disaster. The track list I mean. Not this song
| |
Two things that should never have been put together tbh. I love both bands but would never have DGD cover this...plus its overproduced af. This is a really deep and sincere track being done by a fun and silly band and it just doesn't work.
| |
Would be better without the screams, but then it would basically just be the original. They should have messed with the song structure a little bit more.
| |
song rules
band is pretty good
cover is TERRIBLE
| |
Oceans Ate Alaska – ‘Shape Of My Heart’ [Sting]
whaaaaaat
what the hell could even come from this crossover?
| |
I gotta agree Zombie. Though I still enjoyed it
| |
I am weirdly excited for this. Many of the bands seem respectable enough to pull off covers of these classics
| |
ngl i wanna hear that tbs cover
| |
Also ... I got super pumped thinking we were getting a new modern baseball song until I saw its just someone covering it ... kinda weird considering how modern the group is.
| |
whoa Too Close to Touch still exists?
also this cover is hot garbage but I love it anyway
| |
some of these seem like weird choices for songs that saved your life lol
| |
Great cause, even if I'm only morbidly interested in about half of these collisions. Even that might be generous. Movements should be a banger, at least.
| |
“some of these seem like weird choices for songs that saved your life lol“
Didn’t even read that part. This makes no sense
| |
i think jon's vocals are out of place, but i really love all the lead stuff will is doing throughout
| |
Oceans Ate Alaska – ‘Shape Of My Heart’ [Sting]
"whaaaaaat
what the hell could even come from this crossover?"
Oceans is a great band I bet they'll do better than half of these covers.
| |
Why didn't they cover the full song. This is a cover of the radio edit. wtf
| |
also yeah the radio edit is garbage compared to the full song
| |
The original can never be topped.
| |
My ears are bleeding
| |
Was worried about this considering I hated their Bruno Mars cover. This is much better.
| |
what if they didn't know it was the radio edit lol
| |
or maybe the radio edit saved someones life, not the album version
| |
This is just Punk Goes Pop
| |
^ pretty much honestly. Except nobody covers pop songs of today’s generation cause they’re all audible diarrhea.
| |
this is fucking awful lol
| |
I like GDG but Tillian takes all the energy out of the song.
| |
Will's leads in this are dope.
| |
The Four Year Strong cover of this track is so much better.
| |
why tho
| |
The Mess screams don't really fit but Tilian sounds pretty good.
Will is the clear highlight
| |
Will isn't even on this track - it's just two studio guitarists lol
| |
It was alright
| |
Oh no...
| |
Good god, I hate this. I really liked their Bruno Mars cover too but this is just... ugh.
| |
this is rad, ya'll need to stop smoking meth
| |
"Will isn't even on this track - it's just two studio guitarists lol"
what? source please.
| |
This is one of the worst things I’ve ever heard, and I love the original.
| |
This wasn't the worst thing in the world, but I kinda wish they had been able to do the LP cover and I hate myself for thinking that.
| |
"The Maine – ‘Transatlanticism’ [Death Cab For Cutie]" oh god no
fun third eye blind cover, even if jon sounds tired in this
| |
cool, but screaming doesn't make sense in this song. i mean, mixed down, used more sparingly, and layered under the amazing melodic vocals, sure.
riffs are pretty sweet too. i like the song. just the screaming, eugh.
| |
@Hopelust - Tim the bassist posted about it on Instagram - Will was busy recording the Sianvar record at the time.
Here's the IG post - https://www.instagram.com/p/BpsAlNOl54S/?utm_source=ig_share_sheet&igshid=xw9o8kk2au3x

I'm interested in both the TBS cover and the Neck Deep one.
| |
Not surprised by Dan Campbell doing The Mountain Goats he has mentioned several times on interviews with The Wonder Years that they are a huge influence
| |
@Folio and he has already covered them on the aaron west debut
| |
i've had enough of tilian. he's pretty one sided as a vocalist and i've heard everything he can do. he doesn't write good lyrics, i doubt he's a significant songwriter for dgd either. next please
| |
"The Maine – ‘Transatlanticism’ [Death Cab For Cutie]" oh god no" [2]
It's really hard for me to be mad because this is for such a good cause but...we all know they're going to fucking butcher this, right?
Excited to hear Dan Campbell cover tMG tho. He did great on Going To Georgia and Broom People is honestly one of my favorite tMG tracks
| |
Those screams are preeeeetty bad. Everything else is serviceable.
| |
Really wanna hear that Transatlanticism cover from The Maine. Shit is gonna slap
| |
this is awful
| |
Wow. Those vocals. No.
| |
i dont even like DGD but is this dude singing in a falsetto? it sounds like hes joking around
| |
"Stand Atlantic – ‘Your Graduation’ [Modern Baseball]"
lmfao
| |
Not terrible, but Jon's screams, while great as always, felt out of place. Their style is still very present and just seems to not quite mesh correctly with 90s alternative music. As much as I love this band (as well as 3eb for that matter), this falls a little flat.
| |
The screams are actually alright. It's the cleans that annoy me. They probably thought it was a cute artistic choice switching the high melodies and low ones. That shit does NOT work.
| |
this song is life
| |
this is the first time hearing DGD and lord does this suck lmao
| |
I can confirm that this is easily the best song on the entire album. That's...astounding.
I recommend you all listen to the Crawling cover, though, because it's one of the funniest fucking things I have ever had the pleasure of listening to.
| |
"The Maine – ‘Transatlanticism’ [Death Cab For Cutie]oh god no"
that's the one I have the most faith in tbh
| |
god this is so good thank you
| |
yeah i love this version tbh
| |
it belongs to the summer imo
| |
I was wondering when Punk Goes Pop vol. XI will drop
| |
