Whitechapel have a released a new song titled "Brimstone" from their upcoming album. "The Valley" is due out March 29th, 2019 and sees Whitechapel returning to their older sound similar to "The Somatic Defilement" instead of the gay shit they've been putting out recently. You can listen to the new song here.

It's nice that they're going a bit more to their roots but it was kind of boring.

Also "instead of the gay shit they've been putting out recently" lmao [2]

This doesn't sound too different to what they've been putting out lately and I like it even less than what I heard from Mark of the Blade.

I like the album cover though

fucking fantastic song... Miles above anything off of Mark at least. I also love the aesthetic. I can't wait to see what the rest of the album brings.

It sounds less "djenty" which is, I imagine, why it's being compared to the earlier stuff.

Okay, I loved This Is Exile when it came out (and it will remain a defining metal album for my transition into adulthood), but I've not listened to anything since. I had decent hopes for this band that I used to adore when I saw this post, but where to start with all the negatives?

Firstly, what the fuck happened to Phil Bozeman's vocals? He used to be an absolute POWERHOUSE, with top quality lows, and IMO even better highs. Did he use his highs once here? Admittedly this song was so chugging boring that I could barely pay attention, but why take what is surely the most unique and high-quality aspect of the band and change it to make it the same as every other shit bunch of cunts out there? Aggravating.

Also, did I really just have to wait until almost 2 minutes into the track to hear a single note that wasn't that same monotonous low 'HNNNNGGGGG' sound? What are you trying to do - meld funeral doom with djent or some shit? Fuck off. I'm angry because this band took something good and literally fucked it, creating something indistinguishable from the sea of mediocrity. Is there any greater shame in any form of artistic creation?

Fuck sake, Whitechapel. You dicks.

butt.

Yeah I'm confused about his vocals too. Saw them a couple months ago and he is absolutely still a powerhouse. For some reason it's not coming through that way in the production.

Dimorphic his vocals are still solid as hell man. Phill has always been a top notch vocalist.
Yeah, he now multi-tracks them as per the last few albums but he can still pull them off live so I don't mind at all.

Like I've said, the old drummer is the missing link here. He was easily the most talented member of the band and now he runs a gym or something, lame.

Amazed by people still raving about their first 2 LPs.

My preferences are probably diametrically opposite. Liked the last 3 albums. For different reasons, but still. Not sure if I would relisten those albums, but for sure much more likely than their first 3.

I mean, does any of this age well at all? The first two LPs came 10 years ago, I get that you could rock your pimpled face to it then, but now.. yeesh.

I just hate how all the metal webzines were all "this song will CRUSH you."

REALLY BRO?! This is more plodding midtempo schlock from a band who's sorely lost their way since A New Era of Corruption.
