New mask HYPE
| |
Good song, sounds better than Gray Chapter.
| |
3.2/5 song but i ain't complainin'
| |
Pretty nice actually
| |
Sounds like All Hope is Gone
| |
Yeah it's just AHIG.
| |
Good song! Now make a consistently good album
| |
horrible
| |
i pity you if you think this is even close to as any cut off ahig
| |
pink guy bangs harder than these fine lads
| |
I didn't say it was better than AHIG lol
| |
So I kept fast forwarding to different parts of this song and it sounded the same
| |
Corey's voice is like tired or something, his screams have less power nowadays
| |
Why did the song wait until the last 30 seconds to do something kinda cool
| |
st anger anyone?
| |
Took the guy two sentences before he sings about death.. 'killing, die, murder' etc are his go to words. Getting tired of his lyrics.Ugh.
| |
The song had a bit of a Surfacing vibe to me.
| |
Seen some complaints about the tone/mix, but when bands release a single this early ahead of an album, the single is always just an early mix and it can change a lot between its first release and the album mix.
| |
It's a fairly generic Slipknot song but at least it sounds good and flows well. They've released some clunkers over the years.
| |
Way better than I was expecting
| |
The song improved in the last minutes, it's not bad.
| |
how do i get banned and flug doesnt cmon bruh
| |
I'm really glad there isn't a lame pop chorus in it.
| |
@igetmymsg mabye you directed the same insult towards a user?
| |
This is probably one of the best songs I've heard from them in a long while. Those riffs are absolutely wild, dig the lyrics, and Corey is tearing it up. Good stuff.
| |
that was
fairly boring
wow
| |
new masks, and nothing else
for me they are like disturbed, same shit over the years
| |
better than most stuff from the last album but still unmemorable
| |
Eh comparing them to disturbed is insulting to Slipknot
| |
Slightly too long and could have done with bit of singing near the end, otherwise good
| |
FUCK YEA THIS IS BADASS
| |
The first part of that bridge where he is preaching to the maggots is lame but I dug the rest of it. Last bit of the video where blood is being poured on the crowd reminded me of the hand of blood BFMV music video. He Is Legend's halloween song is better though
| |
Overall song is a lot better than Gray Chapter, seems like they are kinda trying to bring back that Iowa-era sound. Which makes it kinda sad that the lyrics suck so bad. Corey has had quite a bit of that "rockist" vibe in his interviews lately and now it's bled into Slipknot. That explanation he made of the song made me facepalm pretty hard.
| |
Finally heard the song and I gotta say I'm impressed. Really fun stuff. Production sounds raw, which I like, but the balance is way off. Drums are loud as shit.
| |
"for me they are like disturbed, same shit over the years"
Lol no, you can dislike them or whatever, but they don't really have 2 albums that are the same.
| |
Boring.
| |
This reminds me of all those people who say they don't like metal because it's just noise. All I heard just now was tasteless noise but I like metal...so I guess Slipknot is the problem.
| |
lyrics: I will not listen to worthless noises
*pauses song*
| |
Slipknot now are a bus of members?
| |
ok so i like that they're being aggressive here but why are the guitars not heavy? Drums overpower the guitars most of the time which just makes it worse, too. Hearing aggressive slipknot with blast beats was def nice tho.
| |
And what happened to slitting throats and fucking the wounds?
| |
I enjoyed that a hell of a lot.
It does seem a little bit like too intentionally trying to go back to Iowa/Vol. 3, and there doesn't seem to be any pretense about it, but I don't listen to Slipknot for depth or tasteful lyrics, I listen to them for fun metal and that's exactly what I got here.
My enjoyment of the title single from AHIG and then the 'eh' of the resulting album has prevented me from being TOO hyped but this was a pleasant surprise.
| |
Slipknot's first has depth and (arguably) tastefull lyrics. I personaly think that Iowa has it too. This thoough....
| |
take out the whole spoken part and this ruled
| |
Agreed. But at least it was mildly better than the Down With The Sickness spoken word part.
| |
This is a pretty great single. Gives me People = Shit vibes and I'm totally cool with that. Production could have been a *little* cleaner though
| |
It's pretty ok. I'd give it a 3/5 I guess. More boring than I would've expected.
| |
Really like it, especially the grittyness of the vocal production.
That video though had a bunch of good ideas that were randomly put together, which sucks.
| |
Song sux
| |
Not their best but good enough
| |
this has to be the most cringey lyrics ever in a Slipknot song right?
| |
If Corey screamed less intelligibly I might be able to enjoy this song.
| |
Better on second listen.
| |
this is a Slipknot song
| |
Who's drumming for these guys atm?
Song rules brb busting out my frosted tips
| |
Jay Weinberg, Mastodon's old drum tech.
He's been a full time member since 2013.
| |
Meh, tis' alright
| |
"This has to be the most cringey lyrics ever in a Slipknot song right? "
It's not "cut cut cut me up and fuck fuck fuck me up" levels of cringe
| |
Only super fans listen to them for lyrics in 2018
| |
Your average modern Slipknot song. They try a bit of a rearview peak at the Iowa days, but the guitar tone isn't as "gooey" anymore and the overall mood isn't as dark and schizo. The spoken word part sucked hard.
Still, for some reason I can stomach it better than the stuff that's peddled by most modern day mainstream metal bands. When they want to, they honestly can come up with a nice riff here or there.
| |
I'll never stop liking these guys. Nobody listens for the lyrics anymore, and dropping a surprise single is the coolest and most slipknot thing they could do.
| |
happy halloween to you too, slipknot
| |
Thespirit stfu
| |
lol defmax more like easilyoffendedmax
| |
Major vol. 3 / AHIG vibes. Lyrics are trash, but this song bangs otherwise. Gonna blast Iowa today.
| |
pretty enjoyable! good song, I hope the rest of the album will be consistent too!
| |
BLAST BEATS YEAH
| |
Pretty good, seems like this would have been the natural progression from AHIG.
| |
this weak ass guitar tone is pissin me off
| |
smae
| |
me too but I'm also used to it because it's the same tone from the last album. I wish they'd realize how easy it is to gratify people by simply using a dirtier tone
| |
buttmetal
| |
fuck this song baps
| |
baps?
| |
He must've meant bips
| |
This isn't like "good" but it goes kinda hard, I dig it for what it is.
IT should not be 6 minutes though
| |
what does corey taylor think about this song
| |
Boring song. Band should've called it quits.
| |
what does corey taylor think about this song [2]
| |
what does kerry king think about it tho
| |
Ist leider nicht drin, denn ich bin heut King , I'd guess
| |
Loving the tinge of their older sound in this
| |
Didn't really have any standout moments but still better than anything they've done for a while
| |
This is actually pretty fucking good. Love the intro.
| |
Pretty damn solid.
| |
Enjoyable but it both sounds to similar to a lot of their other work and not distinctive enough to stand on it's own legs. The riffs off their first few records and harmonies are so distinct, this just sounds like a all of them yet doesn't have it's own identity.
| |
The tremolo guitar riff and short lived blast beats actually were nice, wish they'd focus more on that kind of thing. Everything else sounded like standard procedure early 2000's nu metal. Kind of scratching my head on who this kind of music really speaks to anymore. I would imagine most of the angsty teenagers who ate up their first couple of albums must be at least into their early 30's by now. Eh, no hate, just not for me...
