Don't know the first thing about this band, but this album sounds exactly like the kind of rock I like to listen to, besides the all too known '70s/vintage/classic rock stuff.

Haven't heard anything else from Electric Six, but this sounds like a hit rather than a miss.

"Grey Areas" is totally hilarious.

the first two albums are pretty tight.

i dunno, i always found their satirical edge decent, but 14 albums? Hardest working joke band doing the rounds today lol.

I don’t know if they’re a joke band or whether it was just those initial singles, I mean it’s light-hearted stuff in general as far as I can tell but I would imagine they might be fed up with being known for 2 songs. I’ve seen them live & would hazard a guess that the majority of the audience had no idea about their other material.

I’m not really a fan, for the record.

^^From what I got from this album, they are good musicians, some subtleties in some songs really caught me off guard, so it's pretty likely that they want to be acknowledged for their musicianship as well.

People don't even know who Electric Six are anymore, how the "mighty" have fallen

I'm actually positively surprised. The production is better than their last few, the songwriting is very hook-centric, it feels like a return to the glory days of a decade ago. However, most of their records have made good initial impressions, and pretty much the only song they released after 2011 that stuck with me was "(Who the Hell Just) Call My Phone?", which is probably the best damned song they ever did.

Might review this. I was going to hang up the E6 review hat due to how jaded their last album made me.

I literally only know Gay Bar, I was surprised to learn that they were still going, and a promoter who put on my old band once booked them for a show in Ashford.
