Why does Trevor sound so awful on this? This also felt very generic especially after their last album Watchers of Rule which was fantastic.
| |
I thought his vox also sucked on watchers of rule. Didn't even sound like the same dude as on their other albums tbh
| |
loved watchers of rule and the vocals. super intense.
for the first time since TOS I am not excited about a new Unearth album.
| |
this is bad. what the fuck happened
| |
They brought in someone from Acacia to help write.
| |
I am unsettled. Unearth have always been good when it comes to releasing a single that makes you go "Yeah, next album is promising."
| |
"this is bad. what the fuck happened"
They're Unearth, that's what happened.
| |
Casavir, you obviously don't like Unearth. That makes you a person who doesn't like Unearth.
| |
Heard this the other day, not sure why they have someone else writing with them as i’ve always thought their stuff was really well done. Not feeling this one though, i’ll wait and see what the record is like still but this isn’t promising.
| |
"They brought in someone from Acacia to help write."
It's really apparent, and not in a good way. Damn...
| |
Acacia as in the acacia strain? pretty much agree with everyone here. i'll reserve judgement til the album is out, but this isn't close to anything on watchers of the rule, which absolutely kicked ass.
| |
That was pretty average.
| |
It's pretty distinctly "okay"
Hope the album as a whole is better
| |
Things really picked up at the mid-point of the song! But then it slipped back into forgettable territory. Not a fan of the vocals on this song at all.
| |
Vocals are really bad. I never liked his voice much, but it was never this bad.
Watchers is a stupidly good album, instrumentally anyway. This is weak.
| |
Watchers of Rule is a top 10, maybe even top 5 metalcore record. This isn't bad per se, and it fit pretty well with their set when they played it live last week, but it doesn't even come close to touching anything on Watchers. It picks up quite a bit after the first minute or so, but I agree that the vox sound weird and out of place.
| |
That spot from 1 45 to 2 20 was wonderful, but yeah, almost sounds like a different vocalist from their last album.
| |
it sounds like a different band entirely. this is generic chuggy brocore.
| |
this is so bad.
| |
Been of fan of Unearth for a while and had I listened to this song without knowing the artist I never would have guessed it was them. Vocals have never been a standout for them but they've never been this bad.
Song is generic as hell and has dampened my expectations for the new album significantly.
| |
Listened to them back in '04 but holy fuck this is shite.
| |
I haven't listened to this band since 2008 but what I can say is this doesn't sound like the same vocalist.
| |
Wasn't this band more chaotic on past albums? I remember them being more intense than the energy presented here. Like frantic, almost? That's how I remember the band. I remember listening to them and The Bled a lot together.
| |
watchers of rule was good
this is garbage
| |
Wasn't really blown away by 'Watchers...' but this is honestly so much worse.
| |
@Eons are you thinking of late Underoath? in '08 Unearth put out their most by-the-numbers-metalcore album.
| |
Watchers is a top 5 metalcore record imo
| |
It would be if it wasn't so monotone
