Just depends on your history. I wouldn’t recommend it to someone who’s just trying to get into and understand extreme music, but Jane Doe was pretty easy for me to get into because it wasn’t too far removed from stuff I was into at the time.

You also have to think about the circles where it holds acclaim. Converge might be one of the most acclaimed metalcore bands, but they’re still relatively niche in the grand scheme of music. They just happen to be a band that makes up the large part of a small scene
