Conception return

2018-05-02 by Toondude | 16 Comments
90s Norwegian prog metal band Conception, fronted by former Kamelot vocalist Roy Khan, have now officially reunited and is planning on releasing brand new material later this fall.

The band's last album, Flow, was released in 1997, and will mark the first time the band released any new material in over 20 years. Khan left Kamelot in 2011 and seemingly retired from music indefinitely until 2018 where he released a solo song 'For All' for Easter Sunday.

The current lineup will consist of Khan, Tore Østby, Ingar Amlien and Arve Heimdal, all of which contributed to the band's first four albums.

The currently untitled and upcoming EP will be partially funded through PledgeMusic, where fans can receive various rewards if they plan to back the project. A single for the EP is planned on being released later this summer.

Prog metal band with Roy Khan. I'm pretty sold on giving these guys a good spin.

Roy certainly doesn't disappoint. I can't wait to hear how Cenception will sound 20+ years since their last.

Can't really imagine their sound with the later, more somber voice of Khan, but we'll see.

Also

KHAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!!! [3], so great to have him back, I still can't quite believe it.

Conception have always had a more varied sonic palette than Kamelot song to song, so I'm excited to see where they head next. 'In Your Multitude' is a damn near classic.

Good. Kamelot's creative juice has been diluted to oblivion and he's in a better place with Conception.
