is it worth holding out hope this will be anything other than mediocre at this point?
| |
no because this band has never released anything other than mediocre

Lmao Abrahadabra is their only bad album. Pumped for this one though.
| |
Maybe they'll do a Cradle and come back all guns blazing.
| |
Wouldn't be surprised tbh.
| |
question is whether seven-odd years were spent stagnating or recharging. here's hoping it's the latter. something along the lines of Puritanical would be awesome.
| |
Band used be good back in the enthrone darkness days, hope they go back to that level of quality
| |
Lmao Abrahadabra is their only bad album. [2]
| |
Not saying they're bad more on the lines of pretty average nowadays
| |
Disagreed hard. m/
| |
Hawks come on they haven’t released a proper guden in ages
| |
Can't wait to be disappointed
| |
Hoping this will be dece.
| |
Dummy Burger
| |
This'll be rich.
| |
About time, idk how the band has survived eight years without new material. Are they really that big that they could basically just tour at this point?
| |
lets not
| |
"Our energy is our torch and our compass when we make riffs* and pierce through the veil - when we go beyond.”
| |
jk these guys have always been more of a Norwegian comedy troupe for me. The makeup, the theatrics -- it's all gut-busting. I can't wait for their next zany output.
| |
The "time is a construct" ploy is super edgy to use as a concept for an album, but I personally enjoy anything Dimmu that doesn't have ICS Vortex's silly sounding clean vocals.
| |
Love this band, but also not really looking forward to this.
| |
+1 for whoever went and rated this a 5 already
| |
Abrahadabra isn't even bad, band rules and I hope this album does as well
| |

Were they even active? I always assumed that they just kind of....stopped.
Anyways, this is cool news. Might not be a great album, but there should at least be a few good tracks.
| |
abrahadabra is awful lol
| |
forgot this band even existed. to think they were pretty big on the 00's
| |
To my knowledge they reduced their activity to near-Tool levels aside from the Forces of the Northern Night live album (which is absolutely incredible IMO) which was a couple years ago if I remember correctly.
| |
Abrahadabra is pretty not good but that's it really. They just get a lot of shit from edgelords. Stormblast is still my fav though.
Album title is cool. Much better and more tasteful than the last couple titles.
| |
according to sputnikmusic.com this new one is already a stone cold classic
| |
Abrahadabra is bad except two songs
| |
"according to sputnikmusic.com this new one is already a stone cold classic"
This sentence made me lol hard dunno why
| |
Abrahadabra is bad except two songs
s/t and Gateways yeah
| |
Last album was all bad songs. Bring back the riffs and cut the symph nonsense to proper levels and there might be a chance of this being passable. Not crossing my fingers tho.
| |
I don't mind super pomp symph, they just need some great metal elements to go w/ ... the idea of super extravagant Dimmu isn't bad, they just need to pull it off more tactfully.
| |
as soon as they started turning down the guitars for bigger symph their songwriting went down too, so i think giving them any excuse to forgo writing a prominent rhythm section is probably a bad idea.
| |
in sorte diaboli was a lot worse than abrahadabra tbh
i'll be entering this cautiously
| |
in sorte diaboli was a lot worse than abrahadabra tbh [2]
| |
I liked a couple songs on Sorte. heard "Gateways" and didn't bother with Abra.
| |
band name still makes me hungry to this day
| |
Even though their last two albums were mediocre, I still find myself having a soft spot for this band for some reason. I liked at least three songs off Abrahadabra actually, so I'm naively having high hopes for this next one lol
| |
"question is whether seven-odd years were spent stagnating or recharging "
Don't know, but they clearly ate a lot of shrooms. I don't remember their PR being this trippy before.
| |
Oddly excited for the new song, I hope it's not complete poop
| |
Oh shit two days now
| |
it leaked
| |
the new track sounds very little like Dimmu, more like some generic symptho metal band, the black metal elements are all but gone, what a disappointment
| |
They ripped that initial melody for the orchestral part right from Satyricons “K.I.N.G.”
| |
I kinda dig the song tbh and In Sorte Diaboli is not even close to as bad as Abrahadabra lol.
| |
I have mixed feeling about it. I like some of the parts individually, but not the song as a whole. It being a Dimmu track has me automatically expecting something black metal-ish, but it doesn’t have anything really to distinguish it as BM.
