Les Claypool; New CD, New Book

2006-04-23 by JAStewart | 11 Comments
Wacky bassist/song writer Les Claypool has set a release date for his new book 'South Of The Pumphouse' and his new CD 'Of Whales And Woe'. The book is set to be released in July and the CD on May 30th.
The book, which will be Claypool's first attempt at a novel is described as "A dark, clever tale of two brothers, a fishing trip, misconceptions, drugs and murder, South of the Pumphouse skillfully combines classic motifs of epic struggle and intelligent layers of imagery, reminiscent of The Old Man and the Sea, and the raw, tweaked perspective and hallucinogenic tutorial of a Hunter Thompson novel." (http://www.prawnsong.com/newsletter/060420.html)
Les Claypool also has a new DVD and the possibility of a CD out with his new joke band, Electric Apricot.
A leaked track from 'Of Whales And Woe' and a studio track by Electric Apricot can be found at Prawnsongs message board.

He's not in the slightest weird. He just writes weird music. And the music is amazing.

Primus is always lurking out there somewhere. Les and his fellow musicians (from any of his projects) have this very collaborative spirit, and no hard feelings toward each other, so it seems like any one of his bands could release music at any time.

Primus haven't recorded anything yet.

This should clear up why Primus haven't had an album in 7 years.

Les Claypool is an awesome bass axist. I'll probably indulge myself in this book if I see it around.
