Love it, though I can see some people calling it boring but this is the style I've wanted them to go in. They've fully expanded on the melodic elements from Exoplanet, and have been chipping away at their chugcore roots ever since Intrinsic. The vocals in the verses give me a major Tool vibe.
3:55 onwards is eargasmic.
| |
fuck this shit bring the chugcore back
| |
zzzzzz-now they sound even more like a 100 other bands
| |
Another snoozer
| |
This band is the J Cole of metal
| |
Since Language they've become real professionals and matured really well imo. But I have nothing against their older stuff, they have their quality too
| |
song is quite a potent sedative
| |
Don't really think this music is hate worthy, I kinda like the new style.
| |
other song was better. this is ok
| |
"they sound even more like a 100 other bands"
1. Who exactly?
2. Originality =/= good.
3. *Implying they didn't sound like every other djent band when they were chugging*
Also loving Joey's drumming, he's been killing it since Language coming up with some really interesting and fun parts.
| |
Pretty boring like the last song
| |
actually they had a considerably more unique sound on exoplanet (At the time at least) than they do now imo
| |
^^^^
COMPLETELY AGREE
| |
"actually they had a considerably more unique sound on exoplanet"
I'd argue the opposite, back in 2010-2011 every djent band was on the "ambient metal" train. But hey, opinions opinions. People calling it radio friendly blows my mind. It's over 5 mins long, has polyrhythms galore, abstract subject matter and weird sounds. Oh but it's melodic and has a chorus so it's not good...like, if you don't enjoy it fair enough but some arguments I've been hearing are weak.
| |
Nowhere near as good as the previous song
| |
they definitely differentiated themselves from other djent bands - i mean for one they were closer to dxc and they had a cosmic sound to them which was pretty distinct within the genre , whereas this sounds like cookie cutter prog and the whole thing feels perfunctory imo but i'll admit it's not a bad song by any means just dull imo
| |
damn that solo crushed my feels
| |
"they had a cosmic sound to them which was pretty distinct within the genre"
BEING would like a word with you.
| |
I enjoyed language but this is quite boring just like the last single
| |
really looking forward to this
| |
Song is good for a rainy mellow day but hopefully there's more diverse tracks on the album.
| |
bring back the angsty djent of old ffs. i'm here to say that this is boring because I don't want anyone thinking my balls are the size of grapes because i like the methodical jams
| |
I'm sorry but this is way better than exoplanet! That album was sooooo general for the age it came out! I really don't get why people love it it's super boring! This is way more interesting! Don't get me wrong exoplanet was a good album, but I'm happier they are leaving that old sound that was getting old! So if you don't like it then leave
| |
what are some big albums that sound like Exoplanet? would really like to listen to them
| |
[2]
exoplanet was not "general" for its time
| |
doesn't make it special
| |
opinions and all y'know
| |
opinions aside, it still doesn't make it special. it was a fine enough mixture, but it was one of those albums that people seem to latch onto to say there was decent deathcore while it still doesn't sound as tight as they are now, even if they downplayed the -core completely.
| |
i mean i disagree entirely but to each their own
| |
time truly treated it kindly I'll give it that
and if this becomes radio rock standard I'll welcome it
| |
totally lost interest in these guys, but this has me interested
| |
This is really good. I loved their early stuff too but honestly I don't expect all deathcore or progressive metal bands to still want to play that stuff as they get older. There's a certain youthful energy in those genres that not all people can keep as they age, not to mention musical tastes changing with age. If I still wrote music in the genre I was playing 10 years ago I'd hate it.
| |
"This band is the J Cole of metal" lmfaoooo
i've been digging these new tracks tho. intrinsic was the only material of theirs that i didn't really get into. but i wouldn't be mad if there was a new band that had the exoplanet sound
| |
Wish they stuck to the APC worshiping. This new song sounds just like their Intrinsic crap
| |
Intrinsic beats this any day and should never be compared to this. The two tracks so far are so simplistic and boring compared to any of their previous work.
| |
lol intrinsic is by far their worst release, hands down
if you cant pick up how much more technically proficient and better written this is (especially the drumming) i feel bad for ya tbh
| |
you can't be for real
| |
If you can't love me at my intrinsic you don't deserve me at my exoplanet
| |
Im interested in the album as a whole but hopefully this song isn't the best they've got in this direction
| |
Song is pretty good.
| |
oh yeah coz technical proficiency is the only touchstone for great music. most technical wank is lifeless and boring. I'm not implying this is but you can't use that as a universal metric
| |
This is cool
| |
soulless technical wankery
| |
Very cool, yeah.
| |
I liked reimagined waaay better.
| |
Love this so much. Better than the first single.
| |
Good stuff.
| |
I did like Reimagined a lot more on second listen though... maybe this will grow. And yes after the 4 minute mark this gets really cool!
| |
Damn, this sounds sweet. I'm loving the singles so far. This band keeps improving if you ask me.
| |
this band is the J. Cole of metal [2]
| |
hype for this album
| |
If this song is of any indication, I have no more fears about this album. Here's a stylistic change I can get behind. Catchy too.
| |
I don't know what to make of it yet. I'll wait to hear the whole album!
| |
this is amazing fuck you guys mean lmao
| |
Overrated group
| |
Thank god, another gem for decent djentelmen like me. I hope that the rest of sputnik got djent with this tune cuz the derpin here makes me a sad panda, thanks to djent I stopped being a mortal, now i am le table lololololololololol
| |
5 minutes of garbage.
| |
don't really give a shit about this band, but I thought I remembered reading a while back that they were working on an album with Ross Robinson and this is apparently not that. I wonder if it got scrapped because of the reception to Suicide Silence's s/t.
| |
This is vaguely interesting. It's extremely mellow albeit a bit dry until that luscious guitar work at the end. I think downplaying the - chug- elements can be a good thing if they can build upon this sound and create something with a grander scheme.
| |
i played this and didn't notice
| |
Old-ish post but seriously, a tribute to Oj Simpson? Lmao cmon man
| |
Bwahaha I never even noticed that
| |
Hahahahaha neither did I, A+++
| |
