New Hands Like Houses track

2017-06-16 by sempiturtle | 32 Comments
Hands Like Houses have released a surprise new single in preparation for their run on this year's Vans Warped Tour. The song is titled "Drift" and is the first piece of new material from the band since their 2016 album, Dissonants. "Drift" continues the heavier, more accessible sound that was prominently featured on their latest record. The band have also signed with Hopeless Records, after their contract with former label Rise Records expired. There has been no announcement from the band regarding an upcoming full length record, so as of now "Drift" is a standalone single.
Check out the new song here:

One of my favorite bands but this has got to be one of the disappointing things I've heard from them. First two albums are gold, and Dissonts was okay. Hope this stays as a standalone, but I can see them heading further down this road.

I like this sound from them, so I'm ok with this. Does anyone else hear a bit of Northlane in this song?

Looks like they're fully committed to being a generic scene band just with better than average vocals..... such a shame.

Ground Dweller is a 3.5 and Unimagine is a 4.5 tbh. Dissonants is their best album tho.

Edit: Actually I'd probably say reimagine is my favorite thing they've done.

Unimagine - 3.5

I'm with sempiturtle. Dissonants > Unimagine > Ground Dweller. Dissonants & unimagine are close though.

They played this live recently on tour with Northlane and it sounded great in that environment.
Unlike the general consensus here, I've actually enjoyed each new album more than the last with these guys. Drift sounds like a continuation of Dissonants but slightly more straight forward. Not disappointed at all. It's fun and catchy with a little dose of heavy. Exactly what made Dissonants one of my favourite albums of 2016.

Unimagine was great, really showed what they were capable of doing with each band member bringing something unique. I feel like they lost some of their magic after their keyboardist left though and went into a more streamlined sound. I mean half the songs on Dissonants literally have the same song progression.

More like 90% of the songs on Dissonants literally have the same song progression

Maybe the fact that I usually listen to my music on shuffle rather than full albums is the reason why I like Dissonants so much then.
