HAHA! POW! Right in the kisser.

I didn't realize Dave had gone total right-wing loony on us. I'm so glad I don't have to like him as a person.

Theyused the first write-up of lyrics rather than the revised kind that was used on the album; they still had roughly the same meaning, but many lines were changed.
Meh, I read through it, and I don't really care. I personally think of the U.N. as a failure and a waste of time.
Naturally, we thought it distasteful in the least
But if it was, something oh say, an attack on the oval office and there were corpses of the Bush administraion laying around, you wouldn't care, would you? F*cking hyopcrites. This Message Edited On 07.10.07

No dave he just hates liberals with a passion.
|

I think the UN has its problems but I've lost a lot of respect for Dave because he's become a right wing lunatic. Liberals ftw.
|
| |
Dude, he's not a right wing lunatic. I'd label him as a moderate. He doesn't really care for Bush; he just voted for him over Kerry because he said he was voting for the lesser of two evils.
His inspiration for writing this song (United Abominations) came from a some incident regarding one of the ambassadors driving around New York drunk and he ran a kid over and got off scott-free.
and tbh, it's pretty retarded that half of you are even labeling him as a right-wing lunatic just because of this song. So I guess that would make the rest of the entertainment industry a bunch of left-wing fanatics? This Message Edited On 07.10.07

...created to prevent wars and promote peace, it failed to address the most dangerous threats facing the world...
um sorry guys but dave's on the right track.
|

a lot of what dave says is true, and a lot of it is extreme but i agree, he's on the right track, and nonetheless its a great album.

lol at megadeth inciting a political debate

Get Out!!

Left wing extremists are just as bad as right wing extremists. God, liberals are so annoying. All they do is complain about everything.

All I wanna know is why Mustaine's rambles deserve a response. The UN has problems but its not like any organization doesn't have its problems. This Message Edited On 07.10.07This Message Edited On 07.10.07

Oh, boohoohoohoo! Dave Mustaine doesn't like the United Nations! It's not like he's the king of coming up with alternate solutions to groups he dislikes. What was that band he tried to become better than, yet failed both commercially and artistically? Metallica or something? It'll come to me.
|
| |
Your sarcastic humor falls very short of anything funny. Mustaine isnt trying to make alternate solutions to anything, he attacked a poorly constructed group of politicians and the UN and whatnot, with his simple lyrics, nothing more.
Anyways, recent Megadeth has definitely surpassed recent Metallica so dont even try to go down that path.
|
| |
Let's just say that "poorly constructed" U.N. is better that no U.N. Dave Mustaine is a fool.
|

I've found that the three most annoying arguments are over 1. Right-wing/left-wing 2. The legalization of marijuana 3. Religion. In that order.
|
| |
UGH
|

Religion is number one imo.

Paris Hilton surpasses recent Metallica too, I don't have to respect her. Metallica's first four albums are better than anything Mustaine ever did, and unsurprisingly the songs he contributed to on Ride the Lightning were the worst ones (we don't know what he did on Call of Ktulu but that's definitely the worst Metallica instrumental). I don't really have much of an opinion on the UN, but you can't deny that Mustaine is asking for something better. Consider that he gives a handful of examples of the UN's supposed inefficiency. What about the good the UN has done? Unless he's saying that the UN should simply be destroyed with no replacement to perform more efficiently, I would call that a suggestion of an alternate solution. And how surprising that the first critic of my "sarcastic humor" was primarily against my opinion.

Are you kidding?! The song Ride the Lightning was easily one of the two best songs off of the album and Dave Mustaine contributed largely to that one. Call of the Ktulu may not be as good as Orion, but it's damn close. Call of the Ktulu is easily a masterpiece anyhow. Dave Mustaine also contributed to the best song off of Kill 'em All, which was The Four Horsemen. This Message Edited On 07.11.07

I can't believe Megadeth got the dignity of a response!
The UN is a terribly ineffective organization, but Mustaine is an idiot, so I think they're even.
|
| |
And there's no way that Ktulu is better than Orion. Not by a long shot. Not that it's NOT good, but yeah.
And Mustaine DID contribute to early Metallica.
These are moot issues.

Mustaine is a genius.
Why is it a surprise that he stirs up the political side of Americans?
Did anyone forget he wrote peace sells?
It's like he just started voicing his opinions...
|
| |
uh how about we don't care and listen to the music instead
|
| |
Mustaine sucks
UN sucks
All politicians suck
Is there any need for this to continue now?
|

Now those are some classy lyrics right there. I'm glad we have such talented wordsmiths as Dave Mustaine pushing music well into the 21st century and keeping us on our toes about the controversial issues. This Message Edited On 07.11.07

 Amen to that.

Ride the Lightning is a very overrated song. The riffs are fairly simplistic and the lyrics are poor when compared to Fade to Black or For Whom The Bell Tolls (and compared to later songs they're plain bad). The opening sounds very Megadeth-like, sort of like Lucretia. Say what you will but I wouldn't even say it's part of the better half of the album. Call of Ktulu of course is quite good (still the worst instrumental though, though to be fair To Live Or To Die is not MUCH better like Orion is) but the point I'm trying to make is that Mustaine's time with Metallica did not produce any of their best material and (in my opinion) was detrimental. In any case you have to admit that Megadeth isn't as good as Metallica.
