This is great. Reminds me a little bit of Irony is a Dead Scene and FNM's heaviest stuff.
Been waiting so long for a Patton hardcore punk project, I'm giddy af.

The fact that he's delving into hardcore punk for the first time at nearly 50 years old and it sounds this good is unbelievable.

Well, there has at least been an insane gap.

I mean, his voice lends itself to this style very well, because this is pretty reminiscent of crossover thrash, which Patton probably could have pulled off easily over the course of his career. I'm just wondering how much longer he'll be able to keep up his intensely harsh vocals. It really sounded like he was showing some signs of aging on Oddfellows, but now it seems he's right back to it.

He picked up his stamina somewhat on Sol Invictus, but not like this.

I wonder how he'll perform these songs live, because he's using a lot of layered vocal recordings on the two Dead Cross songs released so far
Don't think he's slowing down anytime soon though; this was released a few months before Sol Invictus

deathschool he was also on a Dillinger Escape Plan EP. That's mathcore, close enough.

Yeah, but that was also like, barely a taste (as fantastic as it was), and he didn't do anything in that vein since.

gabe left or was kicked out at the end of last year, I believe. Not sure they ever explained it other than that.

also I was expecting this to be way better and way weirder. pretty disappointing.

Song is killer, and the one they temporarily released on St. Patty's Day was even better. I'm stoked for this.

songs were written by two members of the locust, dave lombardo, and a guy in retox. then mike patton came in to record vocals. of course i expected something weirder and better. the stuff they were performing live sounds a lot different and a lot better.

It's because the songs were written with Gabe as vocalist and Patton later recorded the vocals on his own, so it obviously feels a bit disconnected and is a lot less weirder. Tbh I expected Irony Is A Dead Scene Part 2

Some of the tracks they've played live with gabe are on the tracklist (maybe in name only)

yeah, i realize that - maybe i'll like it more in context of the album
