Fall out boy still releases shitty music: they'll become the next good Charlotte. Everybody knows them but everyone hates them.

I can't believe people are still listening to them, when they broke up I just assumed that was it- if they'd left it there I'd look back on them as a piece of 2000s nostalgia, the kind of band I'd hear a song from randomly and go "ohh yeah I remember them, they were alright"

now I actively hate them

impoppy

I honestly wouldn't hate this without the pitch shifted chorus. Reminds me of that Kiiara "Gold" song that she can't play live because it's just chopped up pitch shifted shit.

OK...like...I think I get what they were TRYING to do here, but it didn't turn out that great.

Also I get the feeling this won't get far on radio if that's the goal; there's no real discernible hook, that weird pitch shifting on the chorus is too obscure to be memorable.

Centuries still rips tho tbh

dreamgauze
April 27th 2017
910 Comments

Nah Centuries is fucking disgusting and the worst song any pop punk gone EDM band has every written

I'm in the minority here but I feel like this is a genuinely good track after the vomitey, gross disaster that was American Beauty or whatever. The pitch-shifted sampling does call back to circa early 10s Skrillex brostep but I don't even hate the way it sounds. I've never been a FAN of this band but I enjoyed their earlier albums, and even though this is further distancing themselves from that sound more and more, I'm pretty satisfied with it.

Itll probably make the alternative stations here but Id be surprised to hear it on the pop stations. But 'Believer' by Imagine Dragons is on the pop station here every once in a while, so it could easily happen

The chorus is super catchy to me though, stuck with me from the first time I listened

Terrible song. Fall Out Boy, Imagine Dragons, and Onerepublic have all released songs that only pander to recent trends and styles all within the same day. Both Imagine Dragons and Fall Out Boy have incorporated vocal pitch shifting in their new songs. Why is this trending, and what in the world made them think that these songs are actually good?
