mass effect hype

aaaaand strike 3. emperor of sand goes down without even getting the bat off its shoulder.
| |
Mister Donny and the godspeed you black emperors
| |
best song of the 3 imo. not saying much tho the other 2 sucked
| |
jesus fuck that was boring. gonna 1 this turd so hard.
| |
This isn't THAT bad. Looking forward to the rest of the album. Hoping for the best but will probably be a 3-3.5
| |
i wonder where progmaster is
| |
I feel like Brann does the same drum fill all the time
anyways, another snooze
| |
I can dig it.
| |
not sure how to feel about this
as far as Mastodon songs go it's pretty meh but I can see it being a grower
| |
It's Mastodon's standard song. Nothing great nothing bad. Listenable.
| |
cool to hear some harsh vocals again
| |
That was better than the last 2 singles. Album is sounding more and more like The Hunter 2.0
| |
the guitar work is awesome. vocals sounded kind of uninspired.
| |
that also sums up their live show
| |
You guys will never be satisfied, song is fantastic.
| |
oh, okay.
| |
ive liked all Mastodon albums so far, id say im pretty satisfied with their discography so far.
| |
I wrote the comment before you posted yours, Adolf. I was referring to the ''wow, this band has gone downhill'' posts.
| |
Never been a huge Mastodon fan but everything about the song works for me, up until the bridge at least.
I honestly wish they'd get a whole lot fucking weirder.
| |
that part at 2:21 is Leviathan-type aggressive.
| |
I like it dunno
| |
It appears that Brann has become more of a vocal presence. I miss Mastodon's former amount of Brent vocals :/
| |
Brent is indeed my prefered of the three, besides the shrieks and wails. None can sing Pendulous Skin as he does.
| |
quite nice, could become one of my favs on the new album with those vocal harmonies
| |
preferred Show Yourself kek
| |
Best of the three. This song actually made me kinda excited for the album again. Especially after "Show Yourself" I had my worries. This is pretty crunchy.
| |
Sultan's Curse is still the best of the three. I have high hopes for this album, as this one and Show Yourself are growing on me hard
| |
i liked this one but the production feels a little sterile and flat
| |
song sounds like it might be pretty great, but it's hard to pay attention cause the mixing is so bad
i mean what the hell, sultan's curse sounds much better than this track. hopefully it's not a totally final version but i doubt it
| |
This is supposed to be a double album right? Can't remember where I heard it.
| |
that was the original plan, but they pussed out and decided to make just another standard album instead
| |
Not bad
| |
Brann's vocals are the only thing I don't dig about this track.
| |
I get the feeling this album is just going to be a "good" Mastodon album with little replay value, as they don't seem to be showcasing anything sonically new or particularly interesting. Solid song though.
| |
It's excellent, I don't really get the hate. It's like a combination between Blood Mountain and Crack The Skye.
| |
I like it, I must admit I've liked everything they've done. Leviathan is easily their best, but their last 2 albums are still great IMO. I'm stoked to listen to the whole album.
| |
Spot on tre
| |
This is looking like it's gonna be the definition of a 3
| |
Needs moar Brent vocals.
| |
Needs moar Brent vocals.
| |
Needs more Brent vocals.
| |
Lmao why did that post three times...
My bad m8s.
| |
Because it definitely needs more Brent.
| |
where's the second half
it was getting ready to do something awesome
| |
"This is supposed to be a double album right? Can't remember where I heard it. "
As far as I know no. They just promised an EP they havn't delivered, yet.
| |
wwf, go jam Blood Mountain. that's when they totally threw out the rulebook.
| |
Double albums dont usually work anyways.
| |
I kinda liked the instrumental section, obviously wasn't anything out there or w/e, but the singing is really starting to piss me off
| |
I've heard Mastodon's debut, Leviathan, and Crack the Skye.
Literally the debut was the only really good one. Why are people so surprised by this suckage?
| |
I liked it. I liked it a lot.
| |
Literally? Damn, thats insane.
| |
Yes adolf. Literally : )
| |
Is this a band for neckbeards?
| |
Yeah, join us.
| |
no, just beards
and also me
| |
seven should i bother checking this track or pretend theyre not making music anymore
| |
Both
| |
it's better than the last one but if your oasis ends at Crack the Skye then don't bother
| |
it does end at skye. thanks
| |
Troy sounds so shot nowadays.
| |
"Literally the debut was the only really good one. Why are people so surprised by this suckage?"
Nah. Leviathan is awesome. Not digging this, though.
| |
I like the track okay. Sounds like some mix of Once More Around the Sun and Crack the Skye. The mix is complete trash though. Some things never change...
Producer is Brendan O'Brien (Pearl Jam, AC/DC; previously worked with them on Crack the Skye onward), which helps explain the brickwalling.

#MakeMastodonBaylesAgain
| |
this was fine. Based on the singles, I'm thinking this is gonna be a hard 3.
| |
I think this is great. Sweet Kevin Sharp cameo at the end.
| |
Probably Brent sings less because he just can't pull the clean vocals live. On record they sound great. He should shriek more though, especially now when the others mostly sing.
| |
Pretty great track, enjoyed it, Sultan's Curse is my fav single so far with this following.
| |
great song, album will rule mastodon are the best band ever
| |
I'm making a Meow the Jewels-esque remix called Mastodog
| |
Refrain definitely misses Brents fucked up vocals. Besides that it is a rock solid song but I hoped for something more out there. By now I think Once More might be the better record
| |
Best of the 3...not really saying that much though is it?
| |
If you liked Sultan's Curse, you'll like this. Personally I love both.
| |
Better than the last one, but it's still not great.
| |
Sultans curse was just a fluke I guess, this track does nothing for me. I do like that leviathan-esque riff 2 minutes in though
| |
"You guys will never be satisfied, song is fantastic"
αυτοι δεν ικανοποιουνται, σε αντιθεση με τους ελληνες που τις περισσοτερες φορες δεχομαστε τα παντα και καταπινουμε οτιδηποτε μας δωσουν αμασητο :P

Dat language

he is right though
| |
why, though?

Αμα δεις πχ ποια ψηφιζουν ως καλυτερα αλμπουμ της χρονιας σε λιστες που βγαζει το μεταλ χαμμερ θα καταλαβεις γιατι :Ρ

The translator did a pretty good job when i put my comment actually
| |
This kinda sucked. I really can't ever see myself wanting to listen to this again.
| |
Mastosnooze
| |
The opening riff is sick. Brann will always deliver a good performance so no complaints there.
| |
B-but Jeet. The riff at 2:20 bro.
| |
@Jay That's a good riff ngl, but not even that can save how poorly put together this is.
| |
certainty better then the first track they released. still skeptical as hell though for this album.
| |
Hey, better than expected!
| |
It's a grower
| |
I really don't know why everyone hasn't enjoyed the 3 tracks they've put out. I've dug it quite a bit.
| |
I do but I can see why people don't enjoy them
| |
Admittedly, I'm really not feeling the opening riff too much. More a fan of the second half of the song than anything else, definitely loving the Blood Mountain vibe I got from it, since that's my second-favorite album they've put out. Anyhow, I'm assuming that the record'll end up slightly above The Hunter in terms of ratings, but judging by everyone's reactions I think it's safe to say that the band's hit that point where they could release Leviathan/Crack the Skye 2.0 and folks would still find something to be upset about. (Not that I see them making any earth-shattering releases in the future myself, but eh.)
