DIIV frontman in rehab 2017-02-07 by ThomasTheCure | 12 Comments | Zachary Cole Smith, lead singer and guitarist of the dream pop band DIIV, has announced via Instagram that he has checked himself into "long-haul inpatient treatment." While his reason for the stay isn't specified in the post, Smith's longtime struggle with drug addiction is well-documented, from his 2013 arrest for heroin possession, to the subject matter of DIIV's Is the Is Are. DIIV also had to cancel the second half of their 2016 European tour due to an "urgent health issue," which left fans speculating, despite no details given from the band.

Not surprised at all.
| | | Wishing him the best. Their debut is really good.
| | | Haven't heard the band, sounds up my alley. Hope he gets better
| | | What a total div.
| | | Good on him! Here's hoping for a swift discharge
| | | "long-haul inpatient treatment" probably doesn't bode well for a "swift discharge"
| | | A man can dream unreasonably, can't he?
| | | why are comments getting deleted here
| | | For Zach's own good, he's probably best served staying in as long as he can to finally beat his addiction. Year's of drug abuse won't be solved with a quick fix.
| | | Glad he was brave enough for going in for the help he believes he needs. It takes courage to admit you have a problem and addiction is really rough. Hopefully he'll come out confident and freshly new.
| | | good luck bruh
| | | Godspeed bruh
