WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
| |
omg I am so fucking excited.
| |
fuck Tool's new album this is what we've really all been waiting for. can't wait
| |
This is actually pretty decent. Drags on a bit too long and his voice is still pretty meh, but not bad overall.
| |
Corey Feldman last year, and now Nickleback this year, music is finally coming back to the realization that it needs true musicianship to help bring this community back together.
| |
Train and Nickelback, what a year
| |
Not bad [2]
| |
i haven't exactly been following nickelback's releases but this honestly sounds significantly better than anything else i've heard from them
| |
(strong opinion)
| |
I'd honestly rather hear Nickelback back on the radio then another god damn Chainsmokers song...
| |
when is the new Filter album coming lmao
| |
THIS IS THE BEST NICKELBACK SONG SINCE THEIR DIMEBAG DARRELL TRIBUTE
| |
I'd honestly rather hear Nickelback back on the radio then another god damn Chainsmokers song... [2]
WE WERE STAYING IN PARIS
TO GET AWAY FROM YOUR PARENTS

I've never heard of this Chainsmokers band you speak of
| |
This is actually pretty good.

HYPE

REJOICE, REJOICE A NOBLE BIRTH [2]
| |
Idk if this is actually better than the shit they've put out in the past or if the rest of mainstream rock has just gotten so bad that this seems decent by comparison.
| |
"I've never heard of this Chainsmokers band you speak of"
They're the Nickelback of EDM music.
| |
holy fuck if chad wasnt the worst vocalist in the world this could be slightly passable

REJOICE, REJOICE A NOBLE BIRTH [3]

It wasn't awful.
| |
Kinda repetitive, but a decent track. fite me scrubz
| |
stay woke
| |
lmao let's get it on nickeshit
| |
First 35 seconds were actually decent.
| |
This is actually pretty decent. Drags on a bit too long and his voice is still pretty meh, but not bad overall. [234]
| |
Just generic like everything else they've put out
| |
Woot woot!
I actually kinda liked the opening riff they had. "Drags on a bit too long and his voice is still pretty meh, but not bad overall." [234.5]
| |
Ahhh finally they're back
I hate how people started hating them because it looked cool to hate them 🙄😒
I never stopped liking them
| |
"Feed the Machine"
Now they're not even being oblique about the fact that they just want to steal people's money
| |
actually a decent song, heard much worse from them.
lyricism was never a strong point of chads writing tho heh
| |
Ah Flug you're favorite band is back
| |
if they took the instrumental and gave it to a band that isnt complete shit it could be something good
| |
yep fully, time to make another top nickelback albums list
| |
The main riff isn't too bad but it's still pretty meh

This is so goin to be on the staff’s Top Albums of 2017
| |
if 2016s list was any indication, indeed
| |
this is actually not the worst huh, if rest of the album is like this it might get a 2.5
| |
When Nickelback jumps on the political bandwagon and it doesn't even sound half bad
| |
love the new periphery track
| |
This is pretty good
| |
Yeah, Trump can just go ahead and start WWIII right now, I'd rather burn in a cleansing nuclear fire, at least it would be quick and painless.
| |
surprisingly not bad
| |
RUN!!

Rejoooice
Rejoooice
Eee-maa-aaa-aaa-aaan-ueeeel
| |
Let's hope this is the first nickelback album to receive an average of 3 or above!!!
| |
Remember when Papa Roach did this in 2012
| |
Srsly tho it's a pretty good track tbh
| |
wtf this is like a 2/5 and would probably be a 3/5 without Chad.
| |
Yeah Chad is still annoying, but not as much as he has been in the past. Sucks to even admit I find the breakdown and the bridge solo enjoyable. Generic, but probably the only passable song this band has ever released.
The end is near...
| |
yessssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss
| |
production on this is pretty nice
| |
Is this their best song? I didn't finish it because once that pre chorus and chorus hit, it ruined the song. But I enjoyed the beginning and first verse. Good for them I guess.
| |
like even if this is marginally passable, i don't get why you fucking people are wasting your time on this. there's a nearly infinite amount of better music out there that you've yet to discover and your earholes would be better served by seeking it out.
not tryna tell you how to live yr lives tho.
| |
Actually managed to listen to the whole thing *is this life?*
| |
main riff is pretty rad
| |
brett you need to make yr username accurate
| |
last time I listened to this band was when I haven't been engaged into music as much and now I'm surprised how bad this actually is. I remembered them being kind of decent. but damn, that's so generic and boring, chorus in particular. guess that's how sput changed me lol
| |
I think I still might enjoy Far Away though...on the other hand, I won't listen to see if I actually do, just not interested enough.
| |
"last time I listened to this band was when I haven't been engaged into music"
yeah you were basically their target audience. it's music for people who aren't into music. they are to music what applebee's is to dining. or what adam sandler movies are to film. or what dane cook is to comedy. i could go on but you get it. it's culture for people who don't want to think too hard.
| |
F E E D T H E M A C H I N E
| |
summary: Nickelback copy bands that aren't Nickelback and the end result sounds better than Nickelback. Oh, well, who'd have guessed?!
and yet, it's still boring fucking chemistry textbook clean corporate songwriting with absolutely nothing to offer. But hey, it's above par for said band, so it must be good, duh.
| |
an apt title if ever there was one
ok i'm done thinking about this band for the decade
| |
At least Daniel's drumming isn't super dumbed-down like it was on the last three albums.
| |
Hope the rest of the album is similar to this. Definitely a better direction than anything they've done since All the Right Reasons
| |
got a bit of a Nonpoint vibe from this
| |
This might've been good if Kroeger's voice didn't remind one that this was a Nickelback song. Also, those lyrics...
Looking forward to the instrumental version of this album.
| |
Wow his singing get's me every time. The instrumentals are a bit better than usual though, almost sounds like they tried to give a fuck.
| |
After listening to this three times, I think the song, video, and lyrics are all really good. I don't just hate a band for no reason, so I am not ashamed to admit that I like Nickelback, even though their last album sucked. The song and video kind of reminds me of Tool a little bit too. I am actually looking forward to hearing some more songs now.
| |
his voice sounds the same after like 20 years
| |
Definitely not horrible. A step in the right direction.
| |
This is actually good song . It's the most interesting thing they did since All the right reasons
| |
Great song, really well paced, killer guitar solo and Chad has always known his way around good vocal hooks. I don't actually know why people hate him so much, he's by far the best part of the band, man knows how to make catchy choruses.
| |
his voice sounds the same after like 20 years
believe it or not, people general keep the same voice their whole lives
| |
Not really, Nickelback have always been incredibly inoffensive but effective pop rock music. There's nothing that bad about them and there never has been. And this is actually adding a few heavy metal elements and dropping some of the more obviously lame lyrics, even though the lyrics here are pretty by-the-book big rock band sings about the system, etc.
Basically, Nickelback are fine, always have been, and always will be.
| |
Their 2010s party rock songs were always their worst offenders when it came to just plain lame stuff, but overall their discography has much less of those than their generally inoffensive rock tracks.
| |
That moment when this Nickelback song is heavier than the new Suicide Silence song that dropped today.
| |
But will it be a double album?
| |
I've never called a band "trve" or "untrve" in my life, those are terms I don't use or take seriously.
And I only lambaste bands that suck.
Nickelback know what they are and they don't try to be anything other than inoffensive rock music for the radio. I can respect that far more than other bands that try too hard to be something they're not.
| |
lol nickelback is gonna be on every prog metal fan's cd shelf now
| |
Yeah, this is not so bad.. it has some good moments.. the last albums were shit, but I still like State, Silver Side Up and every year I find the time to listen to The Long Road, their in my opinion heaviest and best album in their carreer which isn't saying much but still .. as someone who now listens to way heavier stuff (melo death, experimental metal, progmetal, etc.) than 10 years ago, I can find enjoyment in those albums
Their last good song was Side Of A Bullet, mainly for one reason - the solo by Dimebag Darrell..
Still my hopes that their new album is going to be atleast a 2,5/5 are pretty slim because of those godawful last couple of albums and one solid new song isn't going to change my expectations
| |
Yeah, this is not so bad
reported
| |
LOOK AT THIS GRRRRAAAAaaaaffffff
| |
Feed the nickel machine?
| |
Anyway, the song is actually surprisingly decent. Interesting that they're going dark and heavy on this.
| |
Avril really got to him man
| |
I don't care what anyone says, silver side up was a dope album. As far as radio rock goes, they are not too bad compared to some of their peers, never understood the hate to be honest.
| |
Compared to other stuff I've heard from them, this isn't bad. It's not good either though. But yeah sure I'll 5 it when it comes out
| |
"silver side up was a dope album"
no, you were just too young to know better.
| |
It does have some pretty catchy songs though
| |
Song is good, best stuff from Nickelback in a loooooooooooong time
| |
Huh, actually pretty damn solid
| |
About time! 2017>2016 already. In all seriousness, this track is pretty solid. Definitely the best thing they've put out in a while. Nickelback have never been that bad of a band, just painfully dull at worst. No clue why they got picked on so much worse than their peers.
| |
good question honestly. they were singled out but modern radio rock in general was/is a blight as a whole and there were/are many other offenders that got a pass. some factors imo...
1. their walmart fashion sense and chad kroeger's eminently punchable appearance in general
2. the fact that they were one of those super safe bands that a lot of people listened to w/o getting rly excited about. see my applebee's/"culture for ppl who don't want to think too hard" comment.
3. that photograph song was as inescapable as it was painful.
4. the creed-esque yarling.
5. ppl jumping on the "nickelback sux" bandwagon simply because hating them was en vogue.
| |
All valid points. Despite how much my music taste has evolved over the past few years, I still enjoy Nickelback for what they are. They do have some tracks that are just downright bad but as a whole, there are much worse bands in the scene. Like Hinder for example.
| |
see i wouldn't know a hinder song if i heard it. nickelback on the other hand was--for a while at least--almost impossible to avoid.
| |
Finally got the balls to listen to this. Holy fuck. Like this sounds like Starset if they weren't mediocre
| |
Not to jump in on the I hate nickelback wagon, but y'know to be fair these guys write songs make money and perform. Vanilla, generic.. whatever you wanna call em' they must be doing something right. They're just radio rock, yep, that's what they do and do well. I never cared about em' or had enough of a thought to muster. Song ain't bad, kudos for trying something different.
| |
that's the weakest fucking argument possible for analyzing art (and i realize using that term here is a stretch to put it mildly). by that same metric michael bay is a brilliant auteur and the big bang theory is this generation's seinfeld.
if how much money is being made enters the equation when judging a piece of art (and again i'm stretching that term to the point of meaninglessness) you're going about it the wrong way.
fuck outta here with that noise.
| |
Not trying pick an argument out of it bud. I'm not 'analyzing art' at least to what you're calling it. I'm just looking at it like some dudes who make music, money, and perform.. whoopty doo! Plenty of people seem to be enjoy it. Sure, we're all free to critise things we don't like, but Christ I don't admire them for it im just saying they're successful. Why not simmer down a little bit?
| |
i'm perfectly simmered, kiddo. just rebuking your dumb comment. not my fault you're inept in the critical thought dept.
you are definitely free to "critise" me tho. have a blessed day.
| |
You're very passionate about art, I can respect that. You have a blessed day as well, friend.
| |
I enjoyed it
I wouldn't download it or go out of my way to listen to it but that's not a bad song.
| |
check and mate
| |
This sounds like some Wovenwar shit lol.
| |
Song still rules.
| |
The anti-Trump song earn them 3 points on my band respectability scale. That still leaves a huge deficit before they become respectable though. I still have to retain some cynicism because I'm fully aware of Chad's penchant for just taking popular subject matters and formulaicly using them to make a song popular, and anti-Trump songs are definitely the in-thing right now (justifiably so but still)

The main thing dragging the song down is Chad Kroeger. His vocals just aren't very good and drive a song which actually has some decent riffs in it into generic radio rock, especially once the chorus hits. It's actually the first Nickelback song I've heard which I won't immediately skip if it came on the radio or shuffle.
| |
"His vocals just aren't very good"
I'd argue he's one of the best radio rock vocalists of the 2000s / 2010s, but I think we look for different things in vocalists.
Anyways, does anyone remember when Nickelback covered Metallica and it sounded better than the original song? - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qqYiMFQPbWc
| |
i don't hate myself enough to listen to a combination of those 2 bands.
and i hate myself quite a bit.
| |
We probably do. I really dislike Nickelback though and I just thought I'd offer my two cents in as much of a constructive way as I can. There were definitely positives to be found.
| |
@Satellite: Trust me, give the cover a shot. You'll be hella surprised.
@Dats: See, Nickelback's usually a hit and miss for me. Their last three albums have been 2.5s for me. All The Right Reasons was a 4 for me and to me was their absolute high point, but this is sounding like it's gonna be a solid 3.5.
| |
i'll do it snide but only because treb said he got you to check out the menzingers
| |
Snide losing his mind ITT lol
| |
nah dissenting opinions have always been his forte
(and i don't mean that as a dig lol)
| |
@Jeet: I've always dug Nickelback, at least For All The Right Reasons era Nickelback.
@Satellite: Tell me what you think of the cover man, and yeah Mezingers was pretty lit. Dunno what I'm gonna rate it yet though, need to give it a few more listens.
| |
It's damn good but def not better than the original... The drumming is obviously better than Lars tho, I'll give em that
| |
i'll spin it tomorrow snide. put my headphones away and my cat's sleeping on my lap so i can't get up. give me shit if i don't get back to you tho.
| |
@TVC: Vocals are better too, and that guitar tone crunches hard.
@Satellite: Fosho man, I think you'll actually be surprised when you spin it tomorrow
| |
I still don't know if political music is the best lane for Nickelback since Chad isn't really a subtle lyricist, but musically this is nice. Interested in hearing this album.
| |
Pretty good song.
| |
LOOK AT THIS GRAAAAAPH
| |
Anytime I see anyone use the word "lit," I actually get physically agitated. It makes me squirm. I should not have that reaction to a word, but holy shit, it irks me to no end.
| |
It gets worse when they say "lit af"
EDIT: Ugh even typing that made me cringe
| |
Yo squad, that shits lit af, fam. *3x fire emoji*
| |
Dino are you still alive after typing that
| |
I saw someone actually had emojis in a news article on this site, but I don't know how that works. Kids these days and their newfangled technology.
| |
We're just old Sputnik dinosaurs, all the cool kids think we aren't hip.
| |
there nothing wrong with applebees you cocksucking motherfucker

I'm Italian and I thoroughly enjoy Olive Garden

I'm Half-Chinese, and I love me some Americanized Chinese food. Shrimp toast, goddamn. Though maybe it's only because I'm a halfie and not truly authentic.

Why am I only just finding out about this? Too hype.

oh guys u just copy the emoji i found out how it works

OH GOD, IT'S SPREADING LIKE WILDFIRE

THEY RIPPED OFF RED. I'M PISSED.

this isn't that bad lol
| |
it's lit af 🐎

Best Nickleback I've ever heard
| |
This is what new Tool should sound like, because it's better than just about everything they've ever done.
| |
keep forgetting you're borderline retarded
| |
Hi Jas
| |
sup?
| |
I'm actually nodding my head to a Nickelback song.
What the fuck....
| |
"sup?"
Nothing much man, just chillin' wbu
| |
I'm not sure why they're the most hated band around. Mostly because I'm not sure why anybody cares enough about them in general to hate them.
Kinda curious to hear this, in case it's not offensively stupid or trite like their recent lack-of-efforts. "See You at the Show" was a jam back in like, middle school...you never know.
| |
not much, just having dinner
| |
Seven it's far better than anything they've released recently.
Nice Jas, what are you eating?
| |
just had a bit of the old butter chicken cause I've got a white af palette
| |
Lol, I had In n' Out burgers for dinner tonight. Felt lazy as shit.
| |
I don't even know if we have that here, definitely not in my home town anyway
| |
SoCal is pretty terrible but it does have some nice things like In n' Out
| |
as the song from Life of Brian goes I guess
| |
it does have some nice things like In n' Out [2]

Incredible

Get your 5's ready

i like the glichy effects on some of those guitar lines. SO QUIRKY YOOOOOOOO
