I can't say I have complaints about what they have to say... too bad their means of expressing those views are manifested in their usual shitty music and tacky videos.
|
| |
Nice chorus, but yeah, this is really tacky you can keep it Green Day
|
| |
song is great. one of the best off revolution radio easily
video is tacky as hell tho [254466777889987665543113456799]
|
| |
Their album is an improvement on the last 10 years. But still meh. Good to see they're angry again though, that might help.
|
| |
Trying so hard to recapture that American Idiot magic
|
| |
i hate the shitty vocal effects that billie joe seems insistent on using in every goddamn song. they sound like a simple plan tribute band at this point.
|
| |
No idea why he's doing it, either. If he's trying to hide his vocal deficiencies, it's not like he's ever been the world's most talented singer.
|
| |
yeah the vocal fx need to go away. and this is coming from someone that is probably their biggest apologist on the site
song kicks ass tho
|
| |
I like this band, but holy shit that video nearly made me hate the song.
|
| |
I personally love the vid but whatever
|
| |
yeah those vox fx are baaaaaaaaad
|
| |
tbh as bad as the vox fx are they are still very much an improvement over uno dos and tre
there not as prominent on the other songs as they are here but the fact he uses them at all is a problem
|
| |
the unforgivably bad 21st century was the last gd album i'll ever listen to. should've hung it up long ago.
|
| |
21cb looks like insomniac compared to the trilogy so he really not missing much. this one was pretty good but yr mileage with it depends a lot on how critical of a fan you are of the band
|
| |
i mean they were my first favorite band so i have a soft spot for them. i even still kinda like american idiot. i'm just not their target demographic at this point.
my dad saw them at woodstock '94 lol.
|
| |
I love it, I know everyone's sick of politics in music, but I think it's important. The world really has gone to shit lately, America elected a lunatic, England fucked itself in the ass by leaving the EU (our money is falling in the exchange rates faster than we're dropping bombs on Syria), and I can't help but fear what will come of 2017. Call it immature, or stupid, but I find it comforting that Green Day (and various other bands) will keep speaking out against this new wave of hatred. I might be being overdramatic, but things where I live aren't so good at the moment, being outwardly left-wing in my town is a deathwish as of late.
And yes I am fully aware I should probably keep this shit off Sputnik
|
| |
yeah satellite i get that. like as passionate as i am about them and how big of a cornerstone they are in my taste i also realize i'm still in their target demographic so that will probably change overtime.
|
| |
i have no problem with musicians being political/shitting on cheeto mussolini; it just also has to be good. this isn't.
|
| |
I don't mind left-wing messages in music. I'm a libertarian with right wing leanings and despite this, American Idiot is still one of my favorite albums even though it's pretty far off from that politically.
It's just that this video is absolutely cringe inducing, and that they're not even trying to make a point other than "ra ra president is bad we all doomed ra ra"
|
| |
we kinda r tho
|
| |
We would have been far worse off with Hillary.
Actually we probably would have been at war within three months of her being elected if she won.
|
| |
>implying we aren't currently at war
|
| |
@sweeny, completely agree. I thought it was downright bold of them to put something like this. If they were indie it wouldn't be anything surprising, but for such a mainstream band like them it's cool that they risk alienating a lot of listeners with such an over message, even if it is over the top.
|
| |
yeah i'm sure the gd fanbase is just teeming with trump supporters /s
|
| |
snide to be fair green day's role in political music has never been to make a potent statement about how they feel regarding an issue. they just kinda say what they're pissed about as directly as possible
|
| |
and their isolating nobody by doing this
|
| |
I wish Green day would stop recreating American Idiot and instead try to recreate Dookie like they did in the late 90's.
Song and video are tacky as hell. I would actually love it if Trump decided to tweet about this music video though haha
|
| |
Video reeks of desperation
|
| |
"Punk-rock band Green Day..."
"Punk-rock..."
; _ ;
|
| |
Song is great. Video is whatever.
|
| |
It's a lyric video, BJ said they're working on an actual video for Revolution Radio.
Still, this is one of the better songs on the record. It would be nice to release it as a 4th single.
|
| |
Yeah for sure, this, "Bang Bang," "Say Goodbye," and "Ordinary World" are my faves
|
| |
tbh if they release another single officially I hope it's forever now
|
| |
So far, 'Bang Bang' and 'Still Breathing' have fared well on the charts. They won't be anywhere close to their biggest hits, but still. If 'Revolution Radio' fares well, they'll probably release a 4th too.
|
| |
"I wish Green day would stop recreating American Idiot and instead try to recreate Dookie like they did in the late 90's."
Yeah.
|
| |
That'd be great, but I doubt BJ will cut his revolutionary crap in favor of down-to-earth subjects that worked better with their music.
|
| |
"tbh if they release another single officially I hope it's forever now"
Best song on the album, one of Green Days best songs for sure
|
| |

it is bold of them, because from what I've seen on twitter and facebook, quite a large portion of their fans support Trump. The election basically meant either way you were being fed a shitsandwich with extra shit and no bread, so it's not too far fetched to assume quite a large number of their fans voted for that ridiculous racist marshmallow
|
| |
lol
|
| |
If you don't own your eyes, who else will?
|
| |
Such a brave song :')
|
| |
Praise be Greenday
|
| |
This is just a lyric video, and I feel like this post was made just to ruffle some feathers and bait people
|
| |
Trump is president, get over it GD.
|
| |
I don't see the point of some musicians/bands making stuff about trump atm. We ALL know that he is problematic and could potentially f the country up worse than it already is, it's not like you're telling us anything at all by putting that kind of stuff in a song/video.
It just seems desperate/bandwagon-y to do so, since it's popular to hate on Trump (which I'm not saying it shouldn't be) so you figure you'll get more hits/views/buys if you tap into that.
|
| |
grain day
|
| |
While my guitar gently weeps?
I can't get it out of my head while listening to this.
|
| |
Trump is president, get over it GD. [2]
|
| |
"Wow Open your eyes people , Green day are revolutionaries fighting to awaken the benighted masses and not just a derivative , diluted punk rock act which is desperately clawing to remain relevant and panders to the lowest denominators by spouting platitudinous nonconformist horeshit over thoroughly uninteresting instrumentation. . "
Lol, I had a good chuckle at this. They have been doing this crap since American Idiot.
Trump is president, get over it GD. [3]
|
| |
Never properly listened to this band before. Kinda sounds like Billy Talent. Why are these guys generally viewed as bad?
|
| |
they're not really generally viewed as bad tbh. the general consensus seems to be that their stuff up to american idiot is good and they fell off with 21st century breakdown. this new album was alright but your opinion on it depends entirely on your general opinion of the band. they're a band where some of people's problems come from their general actions as well
at this point it's not even the music people have a problem with it's their faux revolutionary antics that turn people off. hell this song is pretty good but many people just can't get past the video
|
| |
Not sure why bands still do music videos. They cost a lot of money and all turn out about the same, no?
I think a live recording is more practical and interesting.
|
| |
Rather than "we live in troubled times woooh ooh woooh oooh" would it be too much to ask for bands to grow a set of bollocks and start asking the right questions?
|
| |
The hell else did you expect from billie joe armstrong?
|
| |
I dunno maybe "been told this, think that, sold this *hand claps* do what they say *hand claps* can't find my own way...woah oh woah oh"
|
| |
Nah that doesnt have enough "edgy" buzzwords and empty appeals to politics
|
| |

When you are looking up a band in Youtube, whats the first video you click? The one with a music video or a random one with the album cover on it?

Awesome song. The video is great!! xD
