I think there's a good ABBA song predicting sth like this, but I can't remember the song rn.

profiting off dead people is m/ as fuck
tbh they should just replace ozzy with a hologram and get it over with
|
| |
oh but apparently his widow approves of it so it's cool

@Myth: I googled "abba hologram" and turns out there's a plan for an ABBA "reunion" with holograms. What a world we live in.
I'm not that surprised by Wendy for agreeing with this thing. She always wanted Ronnie to be the center of everything in his music and it seems she never really cared for the rest of the band and it's known that she doesn't like the Last in Line band

Nostalgia is getting ugly

Don't know how to feel about this. My first reaction was negative, but simply playing covers with a cover band (and making a publicized tour I mean) wouldn't be that much better if you ask me. Idk
|
| |
how is playing covers with a cover band in any way equally as offensive and unethical as the hologram idea
|
| |
o ok good edit fam
|
| |
this is fucked up tbh
|
| |
all the humans in the band have to address the hologram as "Sir Ronald" and he gets a dressing room to himself while everyone else sleeps in the van
|
| |
Added the video from Wacken 2016
|
| |
its kinda dumb but how is it fucked up? absolute fannies
|
| |
Michael Jackson, Amy Winehouse, and ATCQ with hologram Phife Dawg already confirmed for Coachella 2017
|

Honestly. I don't feel as though utilizing holograms for dead performers is bad, or immoral (as long as the performer's widow approves [which it was approved here], or it's long past and the relatives / loved ones of said performer are all gone). It's an absolutely awesome way to honor someone's memory by having their legacy live on past their death, and is a great way to show people who didn't get to see their performances a passage into another time.
tl;dr: Hologram technology is lit, and I'd go see this concert if I could.
|
| |
pretty sure betray is confusing holograms w/ cloning
|
| |
This is pathetic and sad at best, absolutely unethical at worst.
Dio is dead. Let him be dead.
|
| |
idk who the fuck would pay to go see a hologram
|
| |
I couldn't get into it tbh. You're just listening to a recording, cheapens the idea of the live experience.
And it's all well and good that they got the widow's approval, I still can't help but wonder what the man himself would've thought of the idea.

| |
Edit: accidental double post
|
| |
necrocybermancy is here an alive boys
|
| |
Is it unethical though? it's basically just a video, you can watch thousands of Dio videos anytime you want
|
| |
Eh saying this is just a video is like saying virtual reality is just a video. I mean, you're not wrong, but there's a certain distinction to be made
|
| |
it's not like dead people are capable of being offended. if there's a demand for this sort of thing (which is doubtful tbh--tupac at coachella was cool but the novelty has almost certainly worn off by now) then go for it.
|
| |
I can't wait until people find a way to print money by holding actual hologram concerts. This is a little gross, but it has actual performers.
|
| |
How about no
