chris pennie couldn't play on the record because of some label contract thing. i don't really remember exactly what it was. he's still going to be playing for them live though i think.

I don't think it would matter who the drummer for DEP is as I watched the video of Gil Sharone and he is a sick drummer and will fit in with DEP just fine.

Gil Sharone kicks ass, as does Pennie, and Eppard (who had an outstanding groove that fitted PERFECTLY with C&C) but Hawkins is not right at all, though I do like his drumming on the IYH album, which I suspect had something to do with Grohl not writing for
the drums as much I guess.

I liked Hawkins drumming in The Best Of You but that is the only good thing I can say about that song or the Foo Fighters in general
