You know something's fucked up when this is better than a lot of stuff you've heard recently
| |
Surprisingly good.
| |
Probably better than Blonde
| |
Daddy's Car.. huh.. I'm equally if not more interested how the AI plans to release and promote its new album in 2017.
| |
Don't like it but that could just be cause the vocals arent good, not the writing in general.
| |
The outro makes me think this is a hoax
If not Tame Impala are fucked lmfao
| |
The AI has a daddy fetish.. god has truly left us.
song's really good though.
| |
can't believe i have to kinkshame a robot
| |
^ We all knew it would come to this at some point lol
| |
This will make it much easier for Miley Cyrus and Britney Spears. They won't need to pay people to write their music for them. One shot deal, and probably royalties to be paid to Sony but again it's proof that anything can make music... Music is not all about following rules or even knowing how to make it. It's all an expression of the self, and emotion. That's why I'll always take the raw and uncooked opposed to the cooked and produced. I still listen to well produced albums and enjoy the production but how can't you? It's difficult stuff.

davey stfu
| |
they're not interesting in any way, shape or form bro. melodies ain't interesting, they're pretty common face the facts bro
| |
"can't believe i have to kinkshame a robot" [2]
Surprisingly solid stuff.
| |
the Iliac Suite was written by a computer in 1957
| |
Can't wait until I hear what this thing deems to be the "optimal" post-metal song. Should be good.
| |
Holy shit this is just the beginning... 4.9 albums incoming duderoos
| |
I honestly don't know how to feel about this
| |
"davey stfu"
Fan of Britney and Miley? Or just the fact that anyone with music lessons or with fruity loops can write music?
| |
Just imagining future wars between the different labels with an 'AI roster' - underhand shit like sabotaging your rival by infecting it with a virus that turns all the vocal settings to 'Chad Kroeger'
| |
'Or just the fact that anyone with music lessons or with fruity loops can write music?'
what is this even meant to mean? of course if you take music lessons or learn how to use a DAW you can make music
| |
this is pretty interesting actually, i'd like to know how they define writing music though
| |
more the fact that you chose to write that load of pretentiousness
| |
It just means music is more than paint by numbers. Also it's an opinion, pretentious or not. I used to have a shallow understanding of music and to be honest I thought Dream Theater was the only good band. Im not trying to be holier than thou or trying to offend anyone. Sorry if I did that.
| |
no offense taken buddy, you just kinda sounded like a bit of a wanker but whatever.
| |
The definition of music is: vocal or instrumental sounds (or both) combined in such a way as to produce beauty of form, harmony, and expression of emotion.
| |
this is kinda disturbing
| |
omg dude its fine calm down i don't care
| |
"expression of emotion"
yea robots are emotional af
| |
Oh, I totally came off as a douche bag, after I read what I said I understood that. Definitely am not like that though. I love anything even field recordings and noise but I was definitely feeling threatened by machines being the future of music.
| |
i'm not sure any of the title to this news article is right, i guess i don't see any problems with the word "by"
| |
first song? focus came out in 93 bro
| |
i guess thats more alien cyborg rather than robot
| |
How exactly did it record vocals? Anyway, song is pretty neat.
"'Or just the fact that anyone with music lessons or with fruity loops can write music?'"
Not true. You've presumable spent a lot of school life learning how to write but if I asked you to bust out an original novel you'd likely struggle. Knowing theoretically how to make music is not the same as being able to create music.
| |
Did it write the music then people recorded it? Or did it pump it all out?
| |
According to sciam, a human arranged the melody and wrote the lyrics.
| |
"Not true. You've presumable spent a lot of school life learning how to write but if I asked you to bust out an original novel you'd likely struggle"
That's precisely what I'm trying to say, but I was a bit too ambiguous. Anyone can follow the rules and create a 4/4 3 minute song. They could also throw a bunch of rides and kick bass samples into fruity loops to create something. I encourage people to create for sure, and I enjoy giving someone a guitar for the first time and listening to what they do with it, and how they play it. But to invoke emotions and create deeply moving music... It takes a certain someone and it's got to be very honest. I had a hard time 10 years ago accepting that music was something more than just shredding and well, Dream Theater was my Higher Power. That was music for me, until I was introduced to mushrooms. After my subsequent trips I understood and I moved away from metal and technical genres. Just had to experience music differently.
| |
"According to sciam, a human arranged the melody and wrote the lyrics."
This makes a lot more sense, considering a robot can then determine key and time and create an appropriate progression and rhythm.
| |
I want a source on this actually, I'm quite intrigued..
| |
Can't believe I have to kink shame a robot [69]
| |
If there is a full length, I'm gonna have to check it. This is good.
| |
There's also a second song called Mr. Shadow, that is super rad. Not the biggest fan of Daddy's Car!
| |
More articles about stuff like this snide. Less about the shit you usually put up.
| |
Shitty indie rock band, so typical, fuck you
| |
I will fight a robot, I don't give a shit
| |
Confirmed, Terminators have daddy kinks
| |
How tf did it even 'write' or 'sing' this I'm so confused??
| |
iiiiiiiroobottwilllnevveeerrrdiiieeee
| |
t bone burnett has something to say about this
| |
song is lit
| |
also supposedly the AI composed the harmonies and melodies, while a person attached vocals and lyrics to it
#iamdisappoint
| |
"also supposedly the AI composed the harmonies and melodies, while a person attached vocals and lyrics to it"
So the guy who wrote the lyrics has the daddy fetish?
| |
yup
| |
Literally crafted without a soul. Do an album and It'll be sput album of the year with everyone born after 1992 5ing it to fuck and saying it's 'fun', it'll be on Wikipedia and everything.
| |
i'd 5 it or something
souls are overrated anyways
| |
whoa
| |
Wait, this isn't Little Mouse...
| |
plane will 5 this album for sure
| |
I'm not impressed, Skynet.
| |
Get back at me when an AI can write some Chuck Schuldiner riffz or crank out some Gene Hoglan drum fills, otherwise I'm not interested.
Also: This song is the definition of boring background noise.
Edit: I'm also pretty sure there have been songs "written" or composed by AIs before. I've definitely listened to robot classical before.
| |
"I was definitely feeling threatened by machines being the future of music."
Actually... yeah, me too. I dunno if it's just a fear of what I don't understand but it certainly doesn't sit comfortably with me either.
| |
This little AI is a bit of a softie bu hey maybe if it's introduced to more music it's taste will go interesting places, right now it's your typical teenage dadcore verging on pop punk but who knows one day The Knife'll come and we can finally share a Plug session together. Hype
| |
Wtf this is great
| |
Personally; I don't mind AI making music.
It's a way that we could possibly humanize, and develop better relations with sentient machinery in the futures.
| |
I'm surprised, this isn't bad. I would love to know the name of the AI and the upcoming album. Really interested to see if they dabble in any other genres.
| |
Same, I want a name and pic
| |
Can't wait for the song about cuckolding
| |
Needs more Arnold on vocals
| |
I'm a cybernetic organism. Living tissue over a metal endoskeleton.
| |
That was good....too good
| |
I knew an article like this would attract some kind of idiot who would try to tie it into "music today is bad amirite"
| |
Anyone who would actually use this as an analogy for "music today is bad amirite", has a deep laden personal superiority complex in regards to music genres that they're uncomfortable addressing.
I'm actually extremely excited for this technology, and I want to see more genres being utilized by it.
| |
This is so bland it hurts
1st law of robotics violated
| |
Pretty boring.
| |
Sounds like steve wilson, created by dads for dads who "used to smoke up back in the day"
| |
For the album lets get a collab between the SONY AI for songwriting and Microsoft TAY on lyrics.
| |
I'd listen to that. With shit lyrics translation by Siri
| |
It's just as good as the given algorithm guidelines given to it. Still uses man-made rules. It can't go creative, but neither can many human composers to be fair.
If you program it as run-of-the-mill pop-factory, that's what it outputs. Should work for Sony. That shit sells.
| |
"It takes a certain someone and it's got to be very honest. I had a hard time 10 years ago accepting that music was something more than just shredding and well, Dream Theater was my Higher Power. Now it makes sense lmao.
| |
did it really take this long
