First Joy Opposites (ex-FACT) 2016-07-26 by decisions | 7 Comments | Half of beloved and late post-hardcore band FACT - guitarist/vocalist Adam Graham, bassist Tomohiro Takayasu, and drummer Eiji Matsumoto - teamed up with former Amity Affliction member Imran Siddiqi to form alternative rock band Joy Opposites, who have released their first single, "In My Bones" today:

Quick question, is there a reason that when I make a news item, the title can only be around 30 characters, but when I edit one I can make the title closer to 60?
Anyways...This song is pretty good. I have to listen to it more to come to real conclusion on it, but while I don't think it's amazing, I definitely like it. It's clear which side of the band wanted to make different music and I think it's cool that they're trying something new. Interested in the full-length for sure.

| | | This is shite. The Shadows song is just ok, but I like it way more than this.
Kinda weird seeing this competition between each FACT-half.
| | | ....aaaaaand back to the Shadows article.
| | | Eiji was usually Fact's most interesting member, drums are crazy lacking here to the extent that Shadows is still definitely better
| | | ^Same here. It's really disappointing that he's not going full tornado on his kit like on heat.
I don't hate this but I doubt I'll want to hear this song again when I check the album out.
| | | Yeah after listening some more I think this song is just decent, nothing too special. I think the first verse is really good but the song just never really goes anywhere.
Also, as a fan of FACT, the simple guitars really kind of neuter Eiji and Tomohiro. Every once in a while you can hear Eiji spice things up a bit but it's clear that extending one of those ideas wouldn't really mesh with the guitars. So while its disappointing, I don't really know what they would do over these guitar parts.
I'm still interested in the album but definitely more curious than excited at this point.
