New The Pineapple Thief Single

2016-07-23 by Onirium | 7 Comments
Alternative prog band The Pineapple Thief have released the second single, entitled In Exile, from their upcoming album "Your Wilderness". The song is set to be the opening track of the record and, according to frontman Bruce Soord, "sets the tone perfectly".

"Your Wilderness" will be released through Kscope records on August 12 and feature the band as a trio along with several guest musicians. Notably, Porcupine Tree's Gavin Harrison plays drums throughout the album, as does Supertramp's John Helliwell on clarinet.
"This has not only redefined our sound but also redefined how we approached the songs as a band, says Soord. [...] I’ve also rediscovered my progressive roots in terms of song-writing and arrangement."
"Your Wilderness" tracklist:
1. In Exile
2. No Man's Land
3. Tear You Up
4. That Shore
5. Take Your Shot
6. Fend For Yourself
7. The Final Thing On My Mind
8. Where We Stood

That album cover looks a bit similar to No-Man's Wild Opera re-issue, but set in the desert.

The previous single was quite promising too, although not stellar

This is one of those bands that always had a good song or two and I always felt was on the cusp of being really good but didn't quite have everything figured out. Song was pretty good, maybe this album will sell me.

I sold myself to The Pineapple Thief when I listened to Variations of a Dream. Someone Here is Missing is notably good and now this seems to be their best record yet. Really hyped for this one. The vocal arrangements are stellar. Layers upon layers, as I like it.

Also, Gavin Harisson is on a roll, participating in two of the (seemingly) greatest offerings of 2016, this and Lighthouse, by iamthemorning.
