amputechture was good but a bit disappointing compared to frances the mute. im still excited for their new album

I really hope this is better than Amputecture. After putting out an album like Frances the Mute, releasing stuff of that quality won't do it.

This will probably be better than Amputechture, if the live versions of Rapid-Fire Tollbooth and Idle Tooth are any indications. Not to mention, their new drummer is sick.

I haven't heard him yet, is he better than Jon Theodore?

From what I've heard of him live playing with them, he's at least equal, maybe a little better. He is hella powerful though.

This'll probably suck, but hopefully it has another cool song like "Day of the Baphomets".

Anyways, I don't much like The Mars Volta; they're overrated in my opinion.

If they follow the trend they're on, this album will be the worst. Progressively more worse by album I say.

rofl no Deloused is miles above Frances. Frances is too contrived and wannabe artsy. Fantastic album though

Let me take a stab at what the song titles might be... Perhaps...

"Phalic Paplomacy",
"Dex Trajectora My Maelstrom",
"Barricadence",
"Obelisk Unonymous"
"In The Sting Of The Canasta Board, Her Mandate Was But A Brief Constablization Upon The Speakshift Origin Pt VII: Tjatsu Lives In The Kingdom Of Rapid Eye Mutations..."

...etcThis Message Edited On 06.17.07

Amputechture was tripe, whoever said the new album needs less Omar and more Cedric was right right right.

I am ready for this, but i hope they spend as much time making it revolutionary like Frances the Mute was. With the drummer i really hope he does better than the one on Amputechture.
*fingers crossed* Please don't dissapoint! *knocks on wood*

Omar is getting more pretentious, he has to sit back more and give people space to make their own stand in the music, thats what he did on Frances and Deloused and they are amazing. He also has to use more than just horns (hint: VIOLINS and PERCUSSIONS!)

They just need less omar and more cedric

Yeah but it won't happen. If it does this could be really good. Also:

"In The Sting Of The Canasta Board, Her Mandate Was But A Brief Constablization Upon The Speakshift Origin Pt VII: Tjatsu Lives In The Kingdom Of Rapid Eye Mutations..."

That's frighteningly accurate.

That's because everyone on this site is ready to jump on the bandwagon. Anytime any album picks up momentum and people are liking it (as long as the band is not too popular), everyone lauds it and gives it 5s and talks about how great it is. If one prominent member says an album sucks, it starts trickling down the ranks until everyone hates it.

I really look forward to this; hard to find these creative, experimental yet solid bands out there. Plus I love their work

Frances is my favorite, De-Loused is second, but Amputechture wasn't bad at all the intro track Vicarious Atonement was kick-ass as was Day Of The Baphoments. But I have respect for every band that is able to work as hard as the Mars Volta they tour but there still able to release albums steadily for their fan base it brings to mind the glory days of the Stones and The Beatles who would crank out classics every six months.

I am ecstatic, because The Mars Volta are my favorite band. I wonder if Flea or John Frusciante are doing any more work with this album, like they have with past albums. This Message Edited On 06.17.07

aamputechture was suuuuch a dissapointment. the only decent song on it is vermicide IMO, but even that is ruined by a shitty guitar solo courtesy of om3r

Please tell John Frusciante to fuck off. His playing on Amputechture sucked.

"In The Sting Of The Canasta Board, Her Mandate Was But A Brief Constablization Upon The Speakshift Origin Pt VII: Tjatsu Lives In The Kingdom Of Rapid Eye Mutations..."

Sounds more like coheed than TMV to be honest.

If you think Mars Volta is spitting out albums, consider John Frusciante that has recorded, mixed, and produced over 8 albums since 2004, and released 6 albums during 6 months.

Oh, and it's all great music according to me.

Yeah, Amputechture is a good album. Maybe got too influenced by ATDI for people to understand it fully? I don't know, just trying to figure out why it sounds like Mars Volta, but there is a subtle change to the sound that makes to whole album different.

Guys Kage solved the puzzle!

Cedric's voice sounds different, and it's not as lush-feeling in production as the rest of theirs are. It's very sterile. This Message Edited On 06.18.07
