Residents co-founder leaves 2016-01-16 by Finn Baker | 18 Comments | The Residents are a band that have been around for about half a century, and on January 15th, one of their co-founders (Mr. Charles Bobuck) has shown his face on the official Residents Facebook page, announcing his departure from the band.
The Residents made two Facebook posts about this, one from Bobuck's perspective, and another from a 'Homer Flynn' of the Cryptic Corporation. These are a few of Bobuck's words in his post:
"One Direction is a boy band. Young, stylish, attractive boys who also manage to carry a tune. In 2015 the unimaginable happened. Zayn Malik, the exotic sultry one, announced he was leaving the group to explore a different musical direction. One Direction still had four people who agreed on a 'one direction' so life for the group went on.
The Residents (older gentleman band) is now in a similar situation. I find myself putting forth the idea that Mr. Malik and I have much in common, outside of me not being young, handsome, exotic, sultry, or able to pull off a melody. I am exiting the current line-up of The Residents to follow a different direction."

Oh, I just saw that in March, they posted a picture from a concert with the caption "Randy hugs Chuck on his last live performance. #endofanera"
But I guess this is the more formal announcement.

Alright, gonna correct myself. He quit touring in '14, but now officially quit the band.

Love these guys, but as with the anonymity, no clue how much this man's contribution matters or doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things, and I think that's one of the reasons I love these guys.
