Radiohead doing James Bond? This I gotta see
| |
How this was passed over in favour of that awful Sam Smith clunker is baffling.
| |
Not my kinda thing
| |
Pretty good tune.
| |
Interesting.
| |
This would've made a horrible theme tbh
| |
movie was already horrible as it is
| |
kinda cool idk. never saw the movie so idk how it would fit in. also, whats up with Radiohead and never getting on soundtracks? happened to them with Romeo and Juliet as well
| |
"This would've made a horrible theme tbh"
way better than the actual theme tbh
| |
well it's certainly no worse
| |
pretty cool
| |
Someone should create a petition to reinsert this into the film's opening sequence for the Blu Ray release. That Sam Smith song is so unbelievably dull. It doesn't deserve it's appearance one bit.
| |
Sam Smith i unbelievably dull in general tho
| |
Very Codexy, not their best but pretty cool.
| |
This was pretty good I dug it, and I usually don't like their more indulgent stuff
| |
Boring as hell. The right choice was made (at least between these two candidates).
| |
i like it. very amnesiac. reminiscent of the dreary piano-driven sound of codex with the subtle jazzy and orchestral elements of pyramid song.... which is primo radiohead. 3.8/5 song on it's own imo and it fits with this era bond but idk i usually like something more upbeat for bond
| |
It's a good song, but I don't see how it's any better suited for the theme than Smith's.
| |
This sounds beautiful! It would have been amazing if they played it in the end of the movie.
| |
This is so boring
| |
Not bad. Reminds me of Pyramid Song.
| |
I was thinking the same thing, about Pyramid Song.
| |
If this is the direction where the band is headed, it certainly is promising for the future.
In fact, the song could have been slightly longer, and the build-up more progressive, but it's a very interesting sound
| |
Sounds sexy
| |
"If this is the direction where the band is headed"
nah i doubt it. most artists commissioned to do bond themes follow the general bond theme style for it
| |
SgtPepper is spot on, exactly what I was thinking while listening. Haven't seen the film yet however, but in any case another great Radiohead song. Definitely getting stoked for their new album, whenever it gets dropped.
| |
That Sam Smith one they ended up using was pretty decent, but I'm more used to these guys.
| |
I liked this song. Unsure if it would have been well suited to Spectre though.

| |
sam smith's song is great
| |
Should have been the song.
| |
I actually love the song but it wouldn't have made for a good Bond theme. The best classic Bond songs were very powerful with big vocal lines.
| |
Skyfall's theme is prob the best of all of 'em
Goldfinger being second of course
| |
song is actually really great. seems pretty 80s twin peaks-y stuff.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O3Z5UGE3g5M
best bond theme
| |
"Skyfall's theme is prob the best of all of 'em"
you only live twice is the best, my bruh. although admittedly it worked better on mad men's season 5 finale.
| |
At least there's an adequate build up and release. Sam Smith's kept on going to the edge and never got cooking. Love this track, but it really doesn't work as a Bond theme.
| |
Whatever happened to the big ballsy Bond movies
If the next Bond movie isn't about a world threatening space laser run by dinosaur Nazis
then we're truly doomed
| |
Someone synched this track to the opening title credits. Kinda dig it more.

| |
Sounds like an excellent Radiohead song, but for James Bond, I think it's just a little too heavy (emotionally), but I can definitely visualize the intro to that movie with this song...I dig it
| |
you know my name is the best bond theme imo. there have been many classic bond songs however
| |
that's seriously the opening? yikes
| |
Why care making the James Bond theme when you're Radiohead ? It sounds like a step down more than anything. Many James Bond opening are classics for sure, but well, doing the opening of a the new film of a zombi franchise, why bother if you can avoid it really ?
| |
maybe they like the bond movies
like, they're human beings, they like stuff. it's not just about advancing your career all the time
| |
Song is amazing tbh
| |

lol the stereotypes about radiohead fans aren't a lie are they
| |
song is fascinating
| |
This is a really great song. Fascinating is a good word for it. The only thing negative I would say is the drums sound off to me and also it seems like the drums are doing too much. I can see how this could have been a Bond theme but ehh. Not in the vein I'm used to for bond. Also haven't seen spectre either so maybe it would fit in the opening however they did it.
| |
Idk this song does fit the bond mood idk, it really shows radiohead tailored the song to fit the movie imo
| |
Definitely better but honestly sam smith fits the movie. A mediocre theme for mediocre bond film.
| |
Sam Smith's song is amazing [2]

@anarchistfist and @Asdfp277
I think I didn't make myself clear one bit.
And I don't understand this: "lol the stereotypes about radiohead fans aren't a lie are they"
I don't know anything about Radiohead fans and I'm certainly not one as I've only listened to Hail to the thief and Amnesiac and never read an article about the band or checked an album release date or even a review.
So, I was just saying that for most musician it is a step up to make a James Bond theme BUT from my point of view it is a bit ridiculous; like becoming famous because you're Miss France or something like that, so I wondered why Radiohead, who is a very famous band and doesn't have anything to prove, might want to make a James Bond Theme.
Now, asdfp277, you gave me a relevent answer, that is, yeah, maybe they just like the franchise. And actually, I didn't think about that. People might just want to make the new James Bond Theme. I wasn't saying everything is always about advancing your career, but in that case I genuinely couldn't think about anything else.
| |
This guy must be ambitious irl
| |
@storm thanks! yeah the drums do seem like they're trying to do too much, like it doesn't match the song and sometimes that works but it doesn't really here
| |
Literally both tracks are horrible
| |
literally
| |
Radiohead didn't get the hint that the track sucks. Thom 1998 called and it wants its sub-Portishead Bond theme back
| |
Literally
| |
song's great, you can all go fuck yourselves
| |
Bit of Pyramid Song in there, with a bit of Codex as well. Really like it.
| |
This is very much Amnesiac era Radiohead and I dig it. Classic ballad by Thom & Co.
| |
Eagerly awaiting the new one now
| |
Sky is literally blue.
| |
Basically, solid song, not a solid action movie theme
| |
idk I think they got the Bond vibe in there
| |
There isn't a strong feeling of threat or of suspense or of importance in this song... the moment it "explodes" isn't that strong.
It's an ok song, but the action scenes of a James Bond with such a theme would be entirely in extreme slow motion, like that one with silver in x-men days of the future past.
I can see Danial Craig punching a guy in slow motion and seeing shockwaves on the cheek of the man when I listen to this song. Or bullets going full Matrix.
| |
Trash
| |
It's alright. I can see why they passed.
| |
Late to the jam,
"what's up with radiohead and never getting on soundtracks?"
Didn't this happen with Fight Club? And [maybe] A Scanner Darkly?
