Along with the Chapter V:F10 album, this is the best black metal debut I've heard this year.

The ritual element is fuckin' awesome.

The whole album rips, but Yekteniya 6 through 8 are really something.

^^The site's engine randomly placed it.

I've looked everywhere, but I didn't find a band photo.

I've heard this is a project by members from other well known bands. also, I'm pretty sure they're polish, not russian.

I've made the bc link available to a very respected Greek metal forum mentioning that Batushka are from Poland, but some users there said the band is Russian.

The label is Polish.

Says Russian on the bandcamp and the language on the jacket is definitely Russian. Plus the choirs? C'mon it's Russian.. and it's amazing.

Guys, you need to know a bit more about history to be sure from where they are. Language of course is close to Russian but i'm almost sure it is influenced by somehow region of Bieszczady in Poland (close to Ukrainian border) where there have been a lot of orthodox chruches and slavian people. And Ukrainian is similar to Russian. The album is influences a lot by orthodox masses and the religion songs.
Anyway, great album.

So nice to see Batushka on the list of Sputnik trending albums, even at sparse instances.

This is quite nice. I've only listened to two songs so far. It strangely feels as if this album had always existed, as if it had always been around.
