After the Burial quit tour

2015-07-28 by DatsNotDaMetulz | 26 Comments
In light of guitarist Justin Lowe's disappearance and subsequent death earlier this month, After the Burial have announced that they will not be performing on their scheduled Summer Slaughter Tour dates.

The band released a statement on the matter:
"In the wake of our loss, it comes with heavy hearts to inform everyone that we have decided not to perform on this years Summer Slaughter tour. The recent events have been unimaginably heartbreaking, and Justin’s passing is something that each of us needs time with our families and friends to recover from.

Justin Lowe’s story may have a sad ending, but the legacy he leaves us is one that should do nothing but inspire.

From the bottom of our hearts, we’d like to thank everyone who has reached out in support and with kind words for him, his family, and us. It has been truly amazing to see all the people whose lives he impacted in a positive way
".

It is unknown how long the group plans to remain inactive during this mourning period, as tributes continue to pour in from fans and fellow musicians to the fallen guitarist.

Yeah I thought it was pretty weird they were gonna be touring like a week after Justin passed.

I wonder if they will use any of his material on the new album, they were in the studio right before all of this happened.

I'd be suprised if they continued at all. I heard Justin was the primary songwriter for better or worse. RIP they ripped it live...

Nah Mayhem released all the stuff they recorded with Varg and Euronymous then broke up for like a year before coming back with Wolf's Lair Abyss which people agree is pretty damn good.

Mayhem said that they thought it was cool to have murderer and victim playing parts on the same album.

I just went and read the wiki for Mayhem... seems pretty messed up to me, but I guess I'm not br00tal enough.

I'm not surprised about After the Burial though, this was a terrible situation.

the guys from Mayhem weren't exactly "all right in the head" in the first place, though.

They're more normal nowadays. Blasphemer was the last "loose cannon" member.

Shitty.
Wolves Within was the most fun metal album of 2014, got a chance to see ATB open for Animals as Leaders to support the release and they seemed to be having a great time. RIP, Justin Lowe.

Probably the right decision to drop off the tour. Feel bad for the guys.

I'm so sad about this. The way it all went. I wasn't even a massive ATB fan but this really bummed me out! Listening to Neo Seoul right now and It bring the feels.

I loved these guys a few years ago, and it's ridiculously sad indeed.
I couldn't imagine touring after a loss like this though, so they're definitely making the right decision.

^ If it was a decently managed tour then you would think they could get some decent replacements. Judging by how they have barely even mentioned the bands dropping out on their social media nor addressed the issue of replacements though I highly doubt it.
