Pretty solid, especially the chorus.

band still rules
stoked
| |
Hard to believe this is the same band that released that god awful Phoenix track a few months ago. This is actually really enjoyable.
| |
ffs durrzo u skinny little shit those elitist undertones in that statement are lame as fuck
| |
I can't believe this is the same band. This is good.
| |
expected to hate it, but is actually good
| |
yeah this is pretty cool
has this band always been sorta like this or this is a change of sound? havent heard any of their other stuff
| |
Other than the clean vocals they've pretty much stayed the same.
| |
@Mort.: this band has never been like this. Check out The Common Man's Collapse (their best, IMO) for comparison. Much less risecore, much more groove.
This isn't bad but the clean vocals are such a stark contrast to before. We're also seeing Okubo embrace his djent influences. Getting pretty excited for the rest of the album.
| |
I'm actually digging the new vocals. Song's pretty cool.
| |
The main reason I didn't like Veil of Maya was the vocalist. I really like this.
| |
This jams. I dig the new vocalist a lot.
| |
Dafuqs the matter with you guys? This is bland as a motherfucker.
| |
Not really
| |
I love a good progressive metal song and this new direction really shows how far they've come from their debut.
| |
I like this
| |
"has this band always been sorta like this or this is a change of sound? havent heard any of their other stuff"
they used to be a lot more schizophrenic and had no cleans, less structured as well
| |
I thought as much as the deathcore tag at the top confused me a bit
| |
Mikasa, su casa.
| |
song is pretty dope, but I'm on the fence with those cleans.
it seems like Sumerian tries to force clean vocals into every band's discography nowadays. They got VoM sounding like the cousin of Periphery right now.
| |
Not liking this. Surprised people are enjoying those whiney pop cleans.
| |
This sucks balls.
The screams are fine and the music is definitely VoM, but that Periphery clone singer needs to be put down right away.
| |
this is pretty terrible. No better than anything they've done before.
| |
The cleans sound like Periphery.
| |
Sounds more melodic and structured and less 00100110111 like usual. The cleans work well with their new sound IMO.
| |
not digging the cleans
Pretty good otherwise
| |
Heyyyy this is pretty great! Not gonna lie though, if I didn't already know this was VoM I would've guessed it was some debut single of some Rise band
| |
not bad but not enjoying those cleans though
| |
oh my god those cleans fuck no
| |
i enjoyed it. i can't get over how much the new vocalist looks like that dude from blue mountain state
| |
I'm a little ambivalent about the direction these guys are taking, but the track's certainly good IMO. It probably won't take too long for me to get used to the clean vocals; that's more than what I can say about Here Comes the Kraken. Ugh.
| |
yeah it's kind of throwing me off how many metalcore bands are now going with the "soulful" white boy cleans but i think veil pulls it off pretty well here. interested/kind of worried about what the rest of the album is gonna be like. also the lyrics here are much better than in phoenix but still pretty repetitive
| |
called it
| |
"yeah it's kind of throwing me off how many metalcore bands are now going with the "soulful" white boy cleans"
LOL so true
| |
Sucks major ass tbh
| |
better than I thought it would be actually but I know this album wont be as good as their first three
| |
Ever since Johnny Craig showed up and proved that drugs are a tenable substitute for soul
| |
Agree 100% that this song rocks but I wish they went for the more chaotic leads like their first three albums (even more so with Punisher) this just feels too safe.
| |
what the... oh man what are they doing
| |
shame they went this route. started hearing it on their last album but was not expecting something this streamlined. rip
| |
Catchy as fuck.
| |
"ffs durrzo u skinny little shit those elitist undertones in that statement are lame as fuck"
Lmao. Sorry?
| |
The guitar playing is pretty safe though, which is nice because it's melodic at least. Pretty sure this will be the only good song on the album, or at least the most memorable. Almost like Volumes's Edge of the Earth all over again
| |
I hope not Bloc but yeah it's really possible.
| |
cleans kill this for me
| |
The part between 1.02-1.25 is pre sweet. Besides the awful vocals.
| |
this is bad why did I decide to do that
| |
Suprised too see people like this on here they usually talk crap about this band. Too bad its oretty much periphery what a shame.
| |
bad and not good
| |
""yeah it's kind of throwing me off how many metalcore bands are now going with the "soulful" white boy cleans"
LOL so true"
The worst genres in music somehow manage to keep getting worse
| |
sucks ya
| |
So far we've got Mikasa, Phoneix, and Subject Zero, Matriarch looks very promising imo
I be stoked
| |
Subject Zero probably won't be on Matriarch. it was just a single, I think.
| |
Marc said it would be on their new ep or full length
| |
Pierce the veil pierced the veil of maya[1] /thread
| |
You know what....this is better than expected. The cleans are almost too high but the melodies are great. Not bad for a band I'm used to not liking at all.
