New Waxahatchee album 2015-01-12 by dimsim3478 | 1 Comments | Alabama singer-songwriter Katie Crutchfield (a.k.a. Waxahatchee) will unleash her third solo album Ivy Tripp on April 6 through Wichita Recordings for the UK/Europe and the 7th via Merge Records for the US. Crutchfield announced her signing to the latter label last month after four years and two albums with the much smaller punk label Don Giovanni Records. The first single off Ivy Tripp is "Air", another product of Crutchfield's brand of simple indie rock, reserved in its use of instruments and evasive of complex or bombastic songwriting, nonetheless creating something that bears--albeit subtly--powerful emotional weight. It's succinct, mildly poppy but intensely underground music that cuts the crap and keeps you coming back for more.
Waxahatchee is already following up two performances in the new year with a string of European dates from January 26 to February 4 in London (both shows sold out), Paris, Brussels, Amsterdam and Berlin. A lengthy U.S. tour is already scheduled to follow from April 7 to May 14, then followed by a European tour from June 1-20.
