I assume that album title is a reference to a sky full of stars? I have a feeling this is gonna be
their most anthemic album, especially after how quaint ghost stories was they're gonna want
to go out with a bang.
|
| |
Stupid logic. If it's not our last album, why try?
|
| |
So this might not be their final album, but they pretend it is. Why?
|
| |
They're just marketing the hype for the album. With mediocre sales on their last 2 records and their fall from being the top band in the world they need this album to do well.
|
| |
"I have to think of it as the final thing we’re doing, otherwise we wouldn’t put everything into it"
They said this before Viva La Vida, and Mylo Xyloto came out too
|
| |

They certainly did. I had assumed Viva la Vida was going to be their last, so I just consider anything afterwards to be a bonus... MX was a bonus I could take or leave though.
|
| |
Well if it's true, the album needs to be waaay better than the last two to make me care about it.
|
| |
Good news, this band really needs to stop
|
| |
PLEASE bow out with something good
|
| |
Do they have to make another
|
| |
Mediocre sales?
Ghost Stories is the 2nd bestselling album of the year after 1989
|
| |
Mylo Xyloto was their best record is years, I thought. And Ghost Stories honestly wasn't bad either. For what these guys do they're quite good at it.
|
| |
If this is the last album, it better be good.
|
| |
Coldplay are working on last album
Working on last album
Last album
Last
About fucking time.
|
| |
"Mediocre sales?

Relatively speaking, yea, it's still poor sales for Coldplay.
The Avengers 2 could make 500 Million dollars and be the 2nd highest grossing film that year, but it would still be relatively poor sales if the original made over 2 Billion.
|
| |
Poor sales is relative to market trends. Album sales as a whole have been in decline for years. An album released five years ago isn't on the same playing field as an album released today. If it's the second best selling album of the year, that would indicate great sales, despite not meeting expectations of how many albums they should have sold five years ago.
|
| |
I hope this band goes away forever
|
| |
I've gotten much less tolerant of Chris Martin's vocals over my life but the guitar guy is more Edgy than the Edge these days.
Not that I've heard either band's latest album, but really the riff to Charlie Brown is great.
|
| |

Agreed, but I would consider Coldplay an outlier in this trend. They still cater to widely mature and young adult fanbase and to a large demographic that still purchases physical records. They still have the potential to push millions of copies of records in a year.
|
| |
I'm digging the parallels with the Harry Potter franchise. Nice play Chris, nice play. Surprise two-part finale???? More at 11.
|
| |
Probably not last album
|
| |
hey, if they produced viva la vida from the same shitty logic then i ain't complaining. i wish they'd but their back into everything they do, though.
|
| |
Ghost stories was great, and I much enjoy Coldplay so I'm glad to hear their working hard on a new record. Not so glad to hear this may be their last, though.
|
| |
dude said the same thing after "Rush of Blood... "
there are better ways to motivate oneself, i'm sure.
|
| |
They've been saying this since Rush Of Blood, yeah. I don't think they're gonna break up or go into a hiatus.
|
| |
Will rule have faith people
|
| |
Everything since Rush of Blood has ranged from awful to average for me.
GO BACK TO MAKING ALT ROCK SONGS. Stop this experimental drivel. It's boring af.
|
| |
Eno better produce it, don't need no Danger Mouse shit like U2 did
|
| |
It's their final album...
...until in about 10 years they'll put together "one last album" for the fans.
Rinse, repeat.
|
| |
So they call it their last album but then make such strain to say it's probably not their last.
The fuck
|
| |
Is the word "thing" starting to sound weird to anyone else?
|
| |
no.
|
| |
We right in the middle of recording yo.
In all seriousness though, band should stop, x&y was their last good album.
|
| |
Mylo was quite fun.
|
| |
Viva La Vida>Mylo
(probably the same for most)
|
| |
So this is what it's like to be a corporate sellout for over a decade trying to keep people interested in your product.
|
| |
yo coldplay has never been that great or anything but this being their last album i'm pretty hyped for it considering Chris is "putting everything into it"
|
| |
"Alternative"
Then why did they can their orchan album recorded in a huge cathedral in favour of a collab with rihanna?
|
| |
Hopeless, yeah.
and the last two albums were not high caliber, which is what is expected of them if they want to be at that level
|
| |
the better question yet, is Coldplay really a band that should even garner attention from this obvious round of publicity that the media eats up... are they really that good?
|
| |
yes
|
| |
"yo coldplay has never been that great or anything"
uwot william
|
