I hate this fact! Everybody you love is going to die.
The thing is, while we are alive we have choices.
I don't blame my old friend/ band mate who just passed away. I think we can all see we all have the genetic predisposition for addiction. There is an evolutionary advantage to it. When an animal eats a certain food that it likes, there is an advantage to associating pleasure with that food so that the animal will look for that food in the future. In other words the potential for addiction is hardwired into our brain. Everyone has eaten too much of their favorite food even though they knew it wasn't good for them. And let's face it we all like to feel good. We don't want to be in pain. We don't want to be sad, as much a Goth culture romanticizes the idea of being eternally melancholy.
Although everyone has the potential for addiction, some people are more predisposed to addiction than others. It's all about how we cope. Some of us will never learn how, I struggle with this myself.
I will never judge anybody who struggles because I know how hard it is just to live in this fucked up world. Without having proper coping tools in your toolbox it is almost impossible.
