Considering how bad Super Collider was, I guess I'm not surprised. Losing Chris Broderick in particular is a huge blow though. He will be hard to replace.
|
| |
Shawn Drover was boring as fuck. He made the dude on 'So Far, So Good' sound like a fucking virtuoso. Peace out.
Chris Broderick was the best they've had since Marty, so that kind of sucks.
Makes me worried, though, because Shawn was into the heavier side of Megadeth and Chris definitely like to Shred and now they both leave at the same time? In every interview I've read with Dave Ellefson since his return, you can tell that he doesn't like the heavier, faster stuff anymore. He'd be totally happy hitting the bland, basic stuff that came after 'Countdown'.
|
| |
i bet it was cuz dave is a huge prick
|
| |
Imo david mustaini should just end the band tbh
|
| |
I guess this is a Megadeath.
|
| |
people still care about this band?
|
| |
I'm sure Drover and Broderick were tired of Dave's massive ego and Super Collider put the nail in that coffin.
"Makes me worried, though, because Shawn was into the heavier side of Megadeth and Chris definitely like to Shred and now they both leave at the same time?"
Mark me in the worried camp too. David Ellefson obviously loves the slower dad rock Megadeth, and Dave is slowing down these days himself.
They're set to enter the studio in January, and whoever their replacements are are just going to do whatever the two Dave's say. All signs so far are pointing to Super Collider 2.0.
|
| |
Completly understandable after seeing what Super Collider endend up sounding...
|
| |
time to call it quits
|
| |
Nobody wants to be a clown or a side show in Megadave's Circus. Both musicians are better off doing other things.
|
| |
Seriously, the world would not lose anything of value if they decide to hang it up at this point.
|
| |
Mustaine's been working with pop producers again, so it'll probably be more like Risk 2.0.
Unless Marty is replacing Broderick, this is shitty news. We'll see who steps up, though.
|
| |
Time for Drover to reactivate Eidolon and Broderick to go back to Jag Panzer.
|
| |
@bigguytoo9
Maybe Drover, but I'd disagree with Broderick being a 'clown or side show'. I think he was played up pretty highly in his tenure with Megadeth.
Dave knows the guy can play - and that was featured pretty prominently in the 3 studio albums Broderick was on.
Dave also takes(took) a backseat on the guitar to him in their live performances.
|
| |
Wow. People leaving Megadeth. What a shocker.
|
| |
I bet Jeff Loomis is kicking himself for joining Arch Enemy a few days back.
|
| |
^^^^True that!!!
|
| |
Makes sence.
Drover will not be missed. Probably the most boring drummer I've ever seen live.
Chris, on the other hand, pretty much carried the band since he joined. He's gonna be tough to replace.
|
| |
Glenn and Shawn probably figure they have enough star power and cash now to do something with Eidolon on the big stage.
I'm totally up for Chris in Jag Panzer again. Thane to Throne was m/
|
| |
rip megadeth
seriously tho
|
| |
Mustaine should just end the band now.
|
| |
I can't stand to hear Dave "sing" anymore. It just detracts from everything, even on good albums like Endgame. I'll just stick with 20th century Megadeth.
|
| |
Bill Ward and Slash as replacements
|
| |
Or bring in Matt Heafy and go down metalcore way
|
| |
Lars Ulrich and Kerry King confirmed
|
| |
Dave Lombardo and Kirk Hammett
|
| |
Dave Grohl should drum
|
| |
That would actually be cool and he might even be into it.
|
| |
dave lombardo drumming in megadeth would be pretty sick lmao
|
| |
Whoa
|
| |
Dave Lombardo and Kirk Hammet in Megadeth? Get Frank Bello on bass and the world will implode.
|
| |
Ha ha. Why not? Dave Lombardo isn't doing anything and Kirk doesn't write with Metallica anyway, so why couldn't he play with Megadeth until another Metallica album is released? Lars' head would fucking explode. Also, then there would be three Daves in the band.
|
| |
Dave Drum should Growl[2]
|
| |
"i bet it was cuz dave is a huge prick"
guaranteed that's the main reason for sure
|
| |
i bet it was cuz dave is a huge prick [3]
|
| |
"I'm sure Drover and Broderick were tired of Dave's massive ego and Super Collider put the nail in that coffin."
This is honestly the most probably reason, it's pretty funny how they released separate statements declaring their departure within 24 hours of each other, I mean what other reason could it be?
|
| |
dave lombardo on drums and david davidson on guitar then they officially rename the band to megadave
|
| |
get as many daves into the group and then Megadave would make sense
|
| |
@Talons
I'm sure they collaborated a least a little bit on their decisions
I can see them sitting at a coffee table or something:
"man... dave is a giant asshole"
"yeah man... agreed"
...
"you wanna dip ou-"
"yeah lets gtfo of here"
|
| |
That's what I mean, they're acting like each one is leaving just for standard personal reasons to pursue other projects, but it's obviously some reason like what you're saying, I mean it was within 24 hours of each other.
|
| |
Dave Drum should Growl[3]
|
| |
meanwhile chuck behler and jeff young wait with bated breath
|
| |
Man, I really wish Jeff Loomis didn't just join Arch Enemy. If he were to join Megadeth, he'd rival Marty as the best guitarist Megadeth have had. Unfortunately, Dave probably wouldn't want to play anything like Rust in Peace again
|
| |
Big contender for wikipedia page with most past members.
|
| |
jethro tull
|
| |
I agree with the people saying that both members leaving at the same time seems to imply a hell of a lot more than wanting to just pursue other interests.
|
| |
no iron butterfly
|
| |
the beatles
|
| |
Creative differences = Dave is a dickhead.
|
| |
Dave Lombardo isn't doing anything
Lombardo is in Philm and he will reactivate Grip Inc.
|
| |
Anything good...
|
| |
"Anything good..."
Hahaha
|
| |
Anything good...
You should really catch up on Grip Inc. and obscure but awesome '90s metal, lots of good stuff came out during that time.
|
| |
I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Jeff, Chris and Shawn actually do another Nevermore esque project since Chris had his tenure in that band and did something similar on Casting The Stones
|
| |
They stayed for way too long tbh
|
| |
wow
|
| |
They should start their MegaDave thrash project now that they don't have to deal with MegaDerp anymore
|
| |
Anyone suggesting Kirk's gotta understand that Kirk is Dave's least favorite Metallica guy haha.
I mean, all he does is shit talk him for "playing his parts" (poorly) all the time. You'll never see a Megadeth with Kirk Hammett.
|
| |
Marty ain't doing shit right now, bring his ass back to the US and sign him up dammit
|
| |
"I bet Jeff Loomis is kicking himself for joining Arch Enemy a few days back."
LOL oh fuuuuuuuuuuuck I totally forgot about that bwahaha
|
| |
Yep, bring Marty back, then we would just need a drummer, but who?
|
| |
Broderick ruled but Drover is not a big loss at all.
|
| |
Marty just did a new album that was produced in LA. It was pretty good, actually. But eh, he should do Megs again.
|
| |
"then we would just need a drummer, but who?"
literally any metal drummer would be fine in megadeth
|
| |
Gene Hoglan. He could give Dave the kick in the butt he probably needs. Get him to write fast stuff again, 'cus the Atomic Clock only got one speed, baby.
|
| |
Spoiler: that speed is "fast"
|
| |
Drover didn't shock me, but Broderick? Wow.
|
| |
We need to start a petition to get Dave in with Dave and Dave in Megadave!
|
| |
Hoglan's played with Devy enough that he'd probably do well in a do what you're told environment.
|
| |
if someone can't see gene's talent though and let him do his thing, then that person is just a fuckhead
then again we know dave is a fuckhead so i digress
|
| |
From what I know about Townsend it seems more like he recruits people who he knows will provide the styles he's looking for for a specific project, rather than finding competent people and just telling them what to do.
|
| |
It'd be awful if Marty came back, he's too good for current Megadeth
|
| |
Dave Mustaine has to be getting close to Scott Stapp status
Mental illness doesn't improve unless you put work into it
|
| |
yeah but Dave has money and Scott doesn't
|
| |
can you take mee-ee high-eruh
|
| |
lol
Nugent?
|
| |
white republican doctrine and rock and roll don't mix well ever
|
| |
Would be interesting to see Chris Poland come on for the recording sessions, just like on "The
System Has Failed. Hell, maybe even rejoin the band?
Marty Friedman is not that into thrash anymore so I don't see him coming back. And I don't think
that Mustaine and Nick Menza are exactly tight, so as much as I would like to see a Rust In Peace
era reunion, it's probably not happening.

"DAVE LOMBARDO Reportedly Open To Replacing SHAWN DROVER In MEGADETH"
http://www.blabbermouth.net/news/dave-lombardo-reportedly-open-to-replacing-shawn-drover-in-megadeth/#V4V6aFAGr2rGpXwE.99
|
| |
bahahaha really. I guess he could kick them into shape.
|
| |
That would be cool.
|
| |
Never been a Megadeth fan. Mustaine's vocals kill any desire to listen to them for me.
|
| |
pretty sure dave was taking them down the road to shit and they just wanted to thrash so good for them
|
| |
Opportunity to get some young blood in there and get rid of the old farts doing the same thing over and over and over again.
|
| |
I mean, it's a band of old farts, though. I don't see Dave wanting to play with like Jakub Zytecki or something (even though that would be awesome).
|
| |
Still no press release from Mustaine?
|
| |
Well, they just found his mother-in-law dead in the woods, so I guess that's just taking precedence. Can't blame them there.
|
| |
That's terrible, RIP
|
| |
Glad this happened. Something needs to change for any hope of another good Megadeth album.
|
| |
dave's constant acting like a bellend just cost him dear. Good on them, greener pastures ahead
|
| |
cool
|
| |
