Job For a Cowboy detail new album

2014-09-23 by betray | 72 Comments
Arizona-based deathcore turned death metal act Job For a Cowboy have released details and a new song from their upcoming 4th studio album.

The album, titled Sun Eater will be released through Metal Blade Records on November 11th.

Lead guitarist Tony Sannicandro says this about Sun Eater:

"This album came together very smoothly. We had the concept beforehand and I took it upon myself to try and portray that concept through the music. I took a much more melodic approach than Demonocracy: focusing on the structuring and the layering that would complement the story to my ears".

Sun Eater will be the first studio production by Job For A Cowboy to feature new drummer Danny Walker (formerly of Exhumed).

You can stream the first single from Sun Eater, 'Sun of Nihility', below:

The song sounds better than pretty much all of Demonocracy. Glad they're slowing things down kind of like Tarnished Gluttony. I really miss the doom ep and Ruination.

That intro was badass but once the distortion kicks in, the production turns pretty shitty. The guitars are mixed so poorly. Dat bass doe

Whoa, didn't see this coming. These guys have been kinda stagnant to me for a while now, but if the whole album sounds similar to this it could be 4-4.5ish for me. For once it feels like they're actually trying to write songs instead of be over the top heavy.

one of the best songs these guys have ever came out with, if this song is any indication it's an easy 4-4.5 for me.

Wow. Was an early fan of theirs. Grew out of it. Hearing this, they sound way better than anything they previously put out. While the mix isn't that great, the riffs and the atmosphere is definitely AOTY contender status if they can pull this off the whole album.

Could we be in a new era of the band here? Hope so. That intro impies the album will be one of taking risks.

I'm loving this song, Demonocracy was a good tech death record but this sounds much more creative and on the next
level musically, reminds me of Gorguts at times. Really looking forward to this new album. Plus that bass!

I will admit I've always had a soft spot for this band. They were OKAY when they made the transition to
Death Metal, just a bit boring. Demonocracy was a great step in the right direction that had some good
ideas. Nourishment Through Bloodshed was great even by normal death metal standards and was the best song
they had made at that point in time. I'm happy that with this, perhaps their label as shitty pig squealing
deathcore will go away. On another note, vocals have always been fantastic, but I will agree they have
stepped down a notch on this one. Regardless of how boring, bad, decent, or somewhat good the
instrumentation has been with these guys, that vocalist has unique, fucking evil lows and great range. He
would fit well in a Deathgrind or Brutal Death act, he needs to have other projects.

Davy's vocals are pretty shite but damn, instrumentally these guys have definitely become less monotonous.

The last 3 albums and ep have been death metal. Most of their songs are literally the same.
Not knocking them as musicians (they can obviously play great) but their songs aren't reslly memorable so much as they Might have a cool riff or something every few songs. But it's brief.

Can't get enough of this song, definitely the best thing they've ever done. I always knew they had the talent for more than
what they've been doing, despite liking Demonocracy. This new album should show what they were always capable of
creatively.
