Flying Colors release video 2014-08-20 by Kars Landman | 4 Comments | Prog group Flying Colors have debuted their first single, entitled 'Mask Machine'. The song is from the band's upcoming album Second Nature, which will be released 9/29 via Mascot Label Group.
Mike Portnoy stated on Loudwire:
“‘Mask Machine’ was the obvious first single from the album. The minute we wrote it, we knew it! The riffs are so strong and the melodies and vocal hooks are impossible to shake from your head even after just one listen. I suggested director Vicente Cordero after having such a great experience working with him on the Winery Dogs‘ ‘I’m No Angel’ video. I think he captured the band’s performance in a way that also sums up this great song: dark, moody and intense!”

meh...good solo, but I blame the acting lead singer for making the band sound like Muse or some other lame alt rock band. It will probably have a couple good prog tracks, and the rest will be throwaway alt rock.
| | | Good song, perfect for a single really. Catchy and immediate but with some other twists and turns to stop it being boring
| | | The song is, well, a catchy single, nothing really groundbreaking, but the softer part is actually great and unpredictable. Their debut was really strong, I'm hoping for more prog on this one though, since the songs are apparently longer
| | | I like the song past the second chorus, although, Mike Portnoy's definitely starting to sound a little too Mike Portnoy, if that makes sense.
